The S4-34420 fire alarm interface unit switches external equipment through one relay. Its input can monitor a return signal from that equipment. For DC switching without an input, we supply the S4-34411 DIN rail module. The S4-34415 provides the same output in a metal enclosure. We also supply interface housings, mounting brackets, spare circuit boards and operating keys.
The S4-34410 provides one input for contacts or a conventional detection zone. The S4-34420 provides one input and one changeover relay. The S4-34450 quad interface provides four channels, each configured as an input or output. These three modules take their operating power from the loop. The S4-34418 provides a key operated supervisory input for plant control on Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano systems. We supply it with its blue back box and two operating keys. Spare operating keys are supplied as the S4-34499 pair. For mains switching, the S4-34401 controls one circuit and the S4-34404 controls four. Their relays switch an external 230V AC supply to resistive loads. Their own operating power comes from the panel loop. We supply both mains-switching interfaces with their enclosures.
We recommend the S4-34492 metal box for an S4-34410 or S4-34420 needing a separate housing. The S4-34490 plastic enclosure suits a fully wired S4-34450. For mains-powered duties, the S4-34440-02 has a 1.5A total output limit. The S4-34440-12 has a 2.5A total output limit. Both need their own 230V AC supply. Standby batteries are ordered separately. The batteries fit inside each enclosure. The S4-34440-02 supports Nano with Main Controller V2.50 or later and Nano commissioning tool V2.x. The S4-34440-12 cannot be used on Nano. We supply the VSINTM-PCB02 spare board for the S4-34440-02. The VSINTM-PCB12 spare board fits the S4-34440-12. Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano panels sit in neighbouring ranges.

Frequently asked questions
- Which Gent 4 channel interface should I choose?
- For four low voltage channels, we supply the S4-34450 fire alarm interface module. Each channel can be an input or output. Its relay contacts are normally open or normally closed, rated 1A at 30V AC/DC for resistive loads. Only channel 1 accepts a conventional detection zone. The S4-34404 has four changeover relays rated 16A at 250V. It also has four monitored low voltage inputs. It switches an external 230V AC supply to resistive loads. We supply the S4-34404 with its enclosure.
- What does the S4-34420 input monitor?
- The S4-34420 input accepts fire, fault, supervisory or confirmation signals. In confirmation mode, that input monitors the response of equipment controlled by the relay. A missing response within the configured period raises a fault. The relay contacts are rated 1A at 30V AC/DC for resistive loads. The S4-34420 has no zone input. For a conventional detection zone, we supply the S4-34410 input module.
- Which batteries do the mains-powered S4 interfaces need?
- The S4-34440-02 takes two 4015-502-YFR batteries, each rated 12V 2.1Ah. The S4-34440-12 takes two 4015-514-YFR batteries, each rated 12V 12Ah. Both pairs are ordered separately. The batteries fit inside each interface enclosure. The S4-34440-02 has a fixed 24V auxiliary output. The S4-34440-12 has a regulated auxiliary output selectable between 12V and 24V. Auxiliary loads count towards each unit’s total output limit. We supply the S4-34440-02 and S4-34440-12 without standby batteries.
- Can the S4-34412 accept fire inputs?
- No, the S4-34412 accepts supervisory inputs only. It takes up to twelve normally open switch inputs for non-fire signals. Its switch input and LED output wiring is unmonitored for faults. The S4-34494 connection converter is ordered separately for the switch and LED connections. For a monitored fire, fault or supervisory input, we supply the S4-34410. The S4-34412 comes without an enclosure. We supply the S4-34412 as a loop-powered DIN rail module with a 26-way ribbon cable.
- Which enclosure or brackets should I order for a bare S4 interface?
- We recommend the M200E-SMB plastic surface box for one S4-34410 or S4-34420. An S4-34450 fits, but cabling space is tight with all four channels connected. We recommend the S4-34490 large plastic box for that duty. The S4-34492 small metal box has 20mm and 25mm knockouts. For six interfaces together, we supply the S4-34496 enclosure. S4-34491 DIN rail brackets mount modules inside other equipment. We supply them separately in packs of five for the S4-34410, S4-34420 and S4-34450.
