Description
The Gent S4-34412 is the 12-Supervisory input module, also referred to as the 12-input interface module. It brings up to twelve non fire supervisory switch inputs onto the device loop of a Vigilon panel, and is designed to be built into a custom panel to provide supervisory input to control plant. It takes one of 200 device addresses and answers the panel's polls with its device type and the status of its supervisory switch inputs, so a closed switch reads as a supervisory, non fire input. The module is loop powered, mounts on DIN rail, and is supplied with a 26 way ribbon cable that carries every switch and LED connection to a separate converter.

The S4-34412 connects up to twelve supervisory switches to a Vigilon device loop using one of its 200 addresses. Each input accepts a normally open contact and reports a supervisory, non-fire input when that contact closes. Switch contacts must have a resistance below 1 ohm and operate at currents below 1mA. The module takes its power from the loop and reports its device type and input status when polled by the panel.
The module has four loop terminals, labelled 0V, L2, 0V and L1, and a socket for the supplied 26-way, 300mm ribbon cable. That cable connects to a separate connection converter, where terminals 1 to 12 serve switches SW1 to SW12, terminals 13 and 14 are common connections, and terminals 15 to 26 serve the corresponding confirmation LEDs. Standard PVC cable connects each switch or LED over a run of up to 10 metres from the converter. Continue the loop screen through the enclosure and connect it to an earth terminal inside the enclosure; connect any switch and LED cable screens to the custom panel's earth terminal.
Each switch can have a confirmation LED that flashes when the switch closes and its message reaches the control panel. Use high efficiency red, amber or green LEDs without integral series resistors. Blue and white LEDs are unsuitable. These external LEDs are separate from the module's three status indicators: amber Fault, green Healthy and amber System fault. The switch input and LED output wiring is not monitored for wiring faults, and the module accepts supervisory inputs only, with no fire input mode.
Configuration uses the Vigilon Commissioning Tool at V1.25 or later. In the S4 Interface Configuration window, select the module and set Number of Keyswitches to the number of supervisory switch inputs in use. The module contains no keyswitch mechanism. Each active input can trigger a command build action. Transmit the configuration to the panel, then test each switch and its wired confirmation LED. Panel compatibility is LPC V3.93 with MCC/MCB V3.94, or LPC V4.35 with MCC/MCB V4.37.
Mount the module and connection converter on DIN rails in a suitably protected custom enclosure, with the switches, LEDs and their wiring inside the same enclosure. The enclosure and DIN rail are separate items. The custom panel designer must ensure the enclosure meets EMC requirements and carries CE marking. The white module measures 102mm high by 65mm wide by 98mm deep and weighs 175g. Its load factor is 1 without confirmation LEDs and 5 when the LED outputs are used. It operates from -10°C to +60°C, with storage from -30°C to +70°C and up to 95% non-condensing relative humidity at +5°C to +45°C.

Can the S4-34412 take a fire input?
No. The module accepts non-fire supervisory switch inputs only. Up to twelve normally open contacts can connect through the separate connection converter, and each closed contact provides a supervisory input to the Vigilon system. Each input in use can be configured to trigger a command build action. A corresponding confirmation LED flashes when the switch closes and its message reaches the control panel. What else do I need to order to wire the switches to an S4-34412?
The S4-34494 connection converter provides the terminals for the switches and confirmation LEDs. The S4-34412 has four loop terminals and a ribbon cable socket; the external switch and LED wiring connects to the converter. A 26-way, 300mm ribbon cable is supplied with the module to link the two. The converter is a separate item. Both parts mount on DIN rails inside a suitably protected custom enclosure, with the switches, LEDs and associated wiring inside that enclosure.
Is the switch and LED wiring on the S4-34412 monitored?
No. The switch input and LED output circuits are not monitored for wiring faults. Each switch and each LED can connect over up to 10 metres of standard PVC cable from the connection converter. If screened cable is used for these circuits, connect the screens to the earth terminal inside the custom panel. Continue the loop cable screen through each module position and connect it to an earth terminal inside the enclosure. Keep the switches, LEDs and wiring mechanically protected within the custom enclosure.
Which LEDs can I use as confirmation indicators?

How do I configure the S4-34412 supervisory inputs?
