Gent by Honeywell
We stock Gent fire alarm equipment from the Gent by Honeywell range for specifiers, fire alarm engineers and trade buyers. Our addressable panels cover three families: Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and single-loop Nano. VIGPLUS-24 and VIGPLUS-72 each come with one loop card. Additional loop cards take VIGPLUS-24 to four loops and VIGPLUS-72 to six. Compact Plus comes with one loop card and takes a second for two loops. We supply S-Quad optical smoke, heat and multi-sensor detectors, including self-test models. Detection-only units sit alongside combined detectors with sounder, voice and visual alarm functions. Alongside our Gent by Honeywell fire alarm panels, detectors and call points, we stock S3 sounders and visual alarm devices (VADs), S4 interfaces, bases and spares. Prices are shown ex VAT for trade supply.

In addressable Gent fire alarm systems, the panel loop connects detectors, call points and alarm devices. We supply S-Quad detectors, S3 sounders and low voltage S4 interfaces that take their power from this loop. Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus support up to 200 compatible devices per loop, depending on the devices fitted. Four- and six-loop Vigilon panels have a separate ceiling of 512 sensors and call points per panel. Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus can link several panels across a site to share information. Vigilon Plus networks link up to 200 panels through domain bridging. Nano has no panel networking. Interfaces connect plant through S4-34420's relay output and input or S4-34450's four configurable input/output channels, with confirmation inputs flagging unresponsive equipment.
Start with the loop capacity and networking you need when choosing a Gent fire panel. Nano serves one loop, Compact Plus allows a second, and Vigilon Plus takes you beyond two loops. We supply S4-715 for optical smoke detection, S4-711 for dual optical smoke and heat sensing, and S4-720 for heat detection. Choose S3-S-R for tone alarms or S3-V-VAD-HPR-R when you also need speech and a visual alarm. Our Gent Legacy section carries older replacement parts, and Gent Software Upgrade contains panel software components. Gent Xenex conventional panels sit under Conventional, with intrinsically safe devices under Intrinsically Safe Gent. We supply panels without batteries, which are ordered separately.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Gent by Honeywell the same as Gent?
- Yes. Gent by Honeywell is the full trading name of Gent; the equipment is the same. Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano are its three addressable panel families. S3-S-R gives tone alarms. S3-V-VAD-HPR-R adds spoken messages and a High Power red VAD. Both S3 models work with all three panel families. The VAD runs at Low Power on Nano. We supply the panels, S-Quad detectors and separate S3 alarm devices.
- What is the difference between Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus?
- VIGPLUS-24 and VIGPLUS-72 each come with one loop card. Additional loop cards take VIGPLUS-24 to four loops and VIGPLUS-72 to six. COMPACT-PLUS comes with one loop card, with a second COMPACT-LPC-EN adding another loop. COMPACT-NC connects up to 31 Compact Plus panels and network nodes in total. Vigilon Plus supports copper or fibre networks. Vigilon Plus networks link up to 200 panels through domain bridging. Gent Nano is single-loop and cannot be networked. We supply the panels, expansion cards and network cards.
- Which Gent smoke detector works on a Vigilon Plus loop?
- S-Quad detectors for Vigilon Plus include S4-715 for optical smoke detection and S4-711 for dual optical smoke and heat sensing. The S4-711 provides detection only. Sounder, speech and visual alarm functions have separate product codes. Both detectors use the S4-700 base. Self-test needs compatible panel and loop card software plus a CLSS licence. We also supply S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR, combining self-test dual optical and heat detection, voice sounder and a High Power red VAD.
- Do Gent panels come with batteries?
- No. We supply all three panel families without standby batteries. COMPACT-PLUS needs two 4015-514-YFR 12V 12Ah batteries. NANO-24 needs two 4015-501-YFR 12V 7Ah batteries. VIGPLUS-24 needs two 4015-602-YFR 12V 21Ah batteries. These are Power Sonic flame retardant batteries. S4-34440-12 also needs two 4015-514-YFR 12V 12Ah batteries alongside its own mains supply. This interface works on Vigilon loops and cannot connect to Nano. We supply these panels and the interface with standby batteries ordered separately.
- What does a Gent self-test detector test?
- It tests the smoke and heat sensing elements and the smoke entry path. The heat test warms the thermistor to test its response. The optical test generates smoke inside the detector. A small fan moves smoke through the chamber and smoke entry points to test for obstruction. Visual inspection remains a separate part of testing. Self-test needs compatible Vigilon Plus or Compact Plus software and a CLSS licence. We supply S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR with dual optical and heat detection, a voice sounder and a High Power red VAD.
