S4 Beam Detectors
We supply Gent beam detector pairs, separate heads and accessories for specifiers, fire alarm engineers and trade buyers. The S4-34740 pair contains a matched transmitter and receiver.
It suits large open spaces where point detectors are impractical. Detection distance is 2–100 metres, depending on the receiver setting. Each head needs its own bracket and base, ordered separately from the pair. We supply angle and parallel brackets with bases. Our S4 Beam Detectors range also includes an obscuration test card set and receiver light shields from Gent by Honeywell.
The sensor pair works with Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano panels. Its transmitter and receiver work together to detect smoke. We supply both heads for these addressable beam detectors. The S4-34741 transmitter has a red lens retainer. The S4-34742 receiver has a black lens retainer. Each head fits onto a base attached to an angle or parallel bracket. The S4-34741-01 angle bracket comes with a base. This assembly is 130mm deep. The S4-34741-03 parallel bracket also comes with a base. It is 27mm deep. Both bracket assemblies are separate order items from the heads. A complete pair needs two mounting assemblies, one for each head.
For a new beam position, order a bracket and base assembly for each head. Use the lens retainer colour to identify an existing head. We supply S4-34741-99 receiver light shields in packs of five. They protect the received signal where sunlight or strong light falls on the receiver. The S4-34741-50 obscuration test card set is for beam pairs after commissioning. - The S4-34742 receiver works with the S4-34741 transmitter over a beam path of 2–100 metres. Distance bands depend on the receiver setting. Settings 4 and 5 cover 2–30 metres. Settings 2 and 3 cover 5–100 metres. Settings 0 and 1 cover 12–100 metres. These figures describe the distance between the two heads. We supply the heads separately or together as a sensor pair.
- Which bracket and base assemblies are available?
- We supply an angle bracket with base and a parallel bracket with base for the S4 beam heads. S4-34741-01 measures 145mm high, 106mm wide and 130mm deep. S4-34741-03 measures 152mm in diameter and 27mm deep. Either assembly supports one transmitter or one receiver. Each sensor head needs its own mounting assembly. We supply both bracket types separately from the sensor pair.
- When is a beam receiver light shield needed?
- S4-34741-99 is needed where direct sunlight or strong light falls on the beam receiver. The light shield fits the receiver’s black lens retainer. The shield protects the signal received from the transmitter. The receiver and transmitter form the beam sensor pair. We supply the heads individually or together as a pair. We supply receiver light shields in packs of five.
- What is the S4-34741-50 obscuration test card set for?
- S4-34741-50 provides obscuration cards for testing the fire response of an S4 beam pair. The cards reduce the light reaching the receiver to simulate smoke. The test response depends on the receiver setting. The transmitter and receiver work together during the test. The pair must be fully commissioned before testing. We supply the test card set separately from the sensor heads.
