Description
The Gent S4-34741-03 is a parallel bracket with base for one S4 beam sensor head. It holds either the S4-34741 transmitter or S4-34742 receiver and allows up to ±8° adjustment in each axis to align the beam. Four adjusters move the plate, and locknuts secure the setting once the head faces the other end of the path. During assembly, the gap between the fixed and moving plates is set to 8mm all round. The bracket and base are 152mm in diameter and 27mm deep, with a weight of about 600g. Each head of an S4-34740 pair needs its own bracket and base. The base is orientated to keep the sensor LEDs visible below.
The S4-34741-03 parallel bracket includes the sensor base for an S4-34741 transmitter or S4-34742 receiver. It has a fixed plate and an adjustable plate, with springs, bushes, adjusters and locknuts. Each bracket and base assembly carries one sensor head on the beam path.

Set an 8mm gap all around between the plates during pre-assembly. The bracket provides up to ±8° adjustment in the X and Y axes. Opposing adjusters tilt the plate towards the required direction. After alignment, hold each adjuster in position while securing its locknut with a 7mm nut driver.
The bracket mounts to a metal box. Orient the base so the sensor LEDs can be seen from floor level, then fit the head to the base. The loop enters at L1 and leaves at L2, with the 0V connections at the base. Both ends of the beam pair are adjusted during alignment, followed by final receiver AutoGain from the panel controls.
The bracket with base measures 152mm in diameter by 27mm deep and weighs approximately 600g. The S4-34741-01 angle bracket with base offers up to ±25° adjustment in each axis with its pivot stop centred. A complete S4-34740 pair has two heads, each using its own bracket and base assembly.
Supplied with a sensor base, two metal mounting plates and a bag of fixings.

FAQs
Which sensor heads fit the parallel bracket?
The S4-34741-03 includes a base for either the S4-34741 transmitter or the S4-34742 receiver. One bracket and base assembly carries one head. The S4-34740 pair combines those two heads, each mounted at its own end of the beam path. Both devices connect through their bases to the fire alarm loop. The bracket's plate adjusters aim the fitted head towards the opposite device, and its locknuts secure the position once the beam has been aligned.
What adjustment does the parallel bracket provide?
The parallel bracket provides up to ±8° movement in both the X and Y axes. It uses opposing adjusters to tilt the moving plate, allowing the sensor to face the head at the other end of the beam path. Set the plate gap to 8mm all around during assembly. After adjustment, hold the adjuster in place while securing its locknut with a 7mm nut driver. The sensor LEDs show the signal level during the alignment process.
Why is an 8mm plate gap set during assembly?
The 8mm gap is the initial spacing between the fixed and adjustable plates around the bracket. The assembly uses springs, bushes and adjusters between those plates. Once assembled, the opposing adjusters tilt the sensor in the X and Y axes through up to ±8°. The locknuts secure the final position after the beam is aligned. The completed bracket with base measures 152mm in diameter and 27mm deep, with an approximate assembled weight of 600g.
How should the base face when the bracket is fitted?
The base is orientated so the sensor's LEDs can be seen from floor level. This lets the alignment display remain visible as the bracket adjusters move the head towards the opposite sensor. The bracket mounts on a metal box, and the loop connects through the base at L1, L2 and 0V. After both the transmitter and receiver have been adjusted for the best signal, final AutoGain is run on the receiver from the fire alarm panel controls.
When is the angle bracket the alternative?
The S4-34741-01 angle bracket is the mounting option with up to ±25° movement in each axis when its pivot stop is centred. The S4-34741-03 parallel bracket provides up to ±8° in each axis. Both include a base and carry either an S4-34741 transmitter or an S4-34742 receiver. Each head of the S4-34740 pair uses its own bracket and base assembly, with the bracket at each end positioning that head to face the opposite device.
