Description
The Gent S4-34741 is the beam sensor transmitter for a Gent S4 beam pair on Vigilon and Nano systems. Its red lens retainer marks the transmitting head, which faces an S4-34742 receiver across the beam path. The pair detects smoke over 2m to 100m, with the range set by the receiver state. The transmitter takes its power from the loop and fits a base on an angle or parallel bracket. Its LEDs show the signal level as the pair is aligned. On Vigilon, a test keyswitch can connect to the transmitter base to trigger a test fire signal once that input has been enabled. Its body is 117mm across and 54mm deep.

The S4-34741 provides the transmitting end of an S4 beam sensor pair. Its red lens retainer distinguishes it from the black-retainer S4-34742 receiver. Both heads connect to the loop and face each other across the beam path. The receiver sets detection sensitivity and gives the local fire indication. The S4-34740 order code combines the transmitter and receiver as a pair.
The transmitter fits the sensor base on either an S4-34741-01 angle bracket or an S4-34741-03 parallel bracket. The angle bracket provides up to ±25° adjustment in each axis with its pivot stop centred. The parallel bracket provides up to ±8° in each axis. During alignment, the transmitter LEDs indicate signal level as its bracket is adjusted towards the receiver. Final receiver AutoGain is run from the panel.
On Vigilon, an optional test keyswitch connects to EM2 and C3 at the transmitter base. The circuit uses a 470Ω series resistor and a 10kΩ end-of-line resistor, with a maximum cable length of 15m. It is monitored for open and short circuits. Select the monitored test input during commissioning. Operation produces a test fire condition. This facility is unavailable on beam pairs converted for backward compatibility.
Vigilon configuration uses Commissioning Tool V1.26 or later. Nano beam configuration features require Nano Commissioning Tool V2.0.7.1 and panel firmware V2.56 or later. The Find Device function makes the transmitter's red LEDs flash to identify its position.
The transmitter measures 117mm in diameter by 54mm deep and weighs approximately 105g. Its body colour is RAL 9010. The S4 beam range operates from 35V to 41V and at -10°C to +50°C. The detector pair's path depends on the receiver setting: states 0 and 1 cover an ideal 12m to 100m, states 2 and 3 cover 5m to 100m, and states 4 and 5 cover 2m to 30m. LPCB approval covers states 0 to 3.
