Description

The Gent S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR is a black S-Quad dual optical smoke and heat detector with a voice sounder and High Power red VAD. It works on Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano loops, with the VAD fixed at Low Power on Nano. Smoke and heat sensing, spoken messages, tones and a visual alarm are combined in one head with a short-circuit isolator. The black body is a colour option with the same sensor states and red VAD coverage as the white S4-711-V-VAD-HPR counterpart. It takes power from the loop and uses the S4BK-700 black base with an S4BK-705 IP21 plate for EN 54-23 compliance. Supplied with one detector head and one blue protective dust cover.

The S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR combines dual optical smoke sensing, heat detection, voice sound and a High Power red visual alarm. Analogue channels 1, 2 and 4 carry forward optical, heat and backward optical readings; channel 5 reports sounder, speech and VAD faults. A short-circuit isolator is integral. State 0 combines normal optical sensitivity with Class A1 heat, and States 2, 6 and 11 have EN 54-5 approval only.

The ceiling VAD has three power settings. High Power gives C-3-14 coverage and additional O-4.5-14 coverage. Medium Power gives C-3-13 and O-4-13, while Low Power gives C-3-10. The flash interval is two seconds, or 0.5 Hz. The black body is a colour option: the sensor states and red VAD coverage match the white S4-711-V-VAD-HPR.

The sounder has EN 54-3 settings of continuous 933 Hz and alternating 933 Hz for 0.25 seconds followed by 700 Hz for 0.25 seconds. S-Quad speech devices use stored audio for an attention tone followed by a message, and factory messages can be reprogrammed. Sounder and VAD outputs synchronise across all loops of one panel; this synchronisation does not extend across a network of panels.

For S-Quad VADs, High and Medium Power require an Enhanced Loop Card. For the stated EN 54-23 coverage on Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus, use MCC/MCB software 4.52 or later, LPC software 4.48 or later and Vigilon Commissioning Tool V1.30 or later. On Nano, the VAD is fixed at Low Power. Earlier compatible panel software also limits the VAD to Low Power. Use the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator to size the loop and standby supply.

Fit the separately ordered S4BK-700 black base with the S4BK-705 black IP21 plate for EN 54-23 compliance. The S-Quad range achieves IP21C with its base on an IP21 plate. Its ABS head is 117 mm in diameter and 49.6 mm high, rising to 63.8 mm with the standard base. The range is loop powered at 35-48 V and operates from -10°C to +50°C, with storage from -20°C to +70°C.

FAQs

What coverage does the S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR provide?

Its ceiling VAD gives C-3-14 coverage at High Power, C-3-13 at Medium Power and C-3-10 at Low Power. Additional open-category coverage is O-4.5-14 at High Power and O-4-13 at Medium Power. The flash interval is two seconds. High and Medium Power require an Enhanced Loop Card and the stated panel software; on Nano the VAD runs at Low Power. Fit the S4BK-700 base with the S4BK-705 IP21 plate and use the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator for system design.

Can the S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR be used on Nano?

Yes, it is compatible with Gent Nano as well as Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus. On Nano the VAD is fixed at Low Power. High and Medium Power require an Enhanced Loop Card. For the stated EN 54-23 coverage on Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus, use MCC/MCB software 4.52 or later and LPC software 4.48 or later. The S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR combines dual optical and heat detection with voice sound, tones and the red visual alarm.

Does the black version have different red VAD coverage from the white version?

The black S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR and white S4-711-V-VAD-HPR have the same red VAD coverage and share sensor states. The housing colour is the visible difference. High Power gives C-3-14 and O-4.5-14, Medium Power gives C-3-13 and O-4-13, and Low Power gives C-3-10. The black model uses the S4BK-700 base with the S4BK-705 black IP21 plate. Its dual optical sensing channels carry forward and backward optical readings alongside the heat channel, with a separate sounder, speech and VAD fault channel.

Will its voice sounder and red VAD synchronise across loops?

Yes. Sounder and VAD outputs synchronise across all loops of one Gent panel, so devices connected to different loops of that panel can sound and flash together. This does not extend across a network of panels; each panel synchronises its own devices. The S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR flashes every two seconds and provides voice sound as well as tones. Its EN 54-3 tone settings are continuous 933 Hz and alternating 933/700 Hz, with each alternating tone lasting 0.25 seconds.

Which black mounting parts does the S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR require?

Use the S4BK-700 black base and S4BK-705 black IP21 plate, ordered separately from the detector head. The IP21 plate is required for EN 54-23 compliance and fits between the ceiling and the base. The S-Quad range achieves IP21C with the base mounted on that plate. S4BK-705 plates come in packs of five, while the S4BK-700 base is supplied individually. This mounting arrangement serves the combined dual optical and heat detector, voice sounder and High Power red VAD.
