Description

The Gent S4-701 combines an S4-700 common base and an S4-705 IP21 plate in a kit for one S-Quad detector position. The plate sits between the base and the ceiling, with clips that hold the two parts together. It is used for ceiling S-Quad detectors with a built-in VAD. The kit mounts on a metal back box using two screws, with the cable holes pierced to seal around each cable. Its base accepts the detector head with a clockwise twist and provides the loop cable connections. The kit includes one base and one plate; the fixing screws are not included. The head can be secured with the base's locking peg.

The S4-701 supplies the S4-700 common base and S4-705 IP21 plate together for one detector position. For a ceiling S-Quad detector with a built-in VAD, this provides the base and plate in one kit. The white plate sits above the base, between the base and the ceiling.

Align the elongated holes and press the base and plate together until their clips engage. Pierce each cable opening smaller than the cable diameter so that the plate seals against the outer sheath. For a metal box with 50mm fixing centres, pierce the fixing holes at the inner ends of the elongated slots. The assembly can be fitted at a ceiling tile or solid ceiling.

Secure the base and plate to a metal back box with two suitable fixing screws, which are not included. Maintain loop earth continuity and terminate the earth at the box. Keep spare wire short and flat inside the base. Fit the detector head by turning clockwise until it clicks into position and the marks align.

The included S4-700 base has an optional locking peg. Once fitted, the peg must be reached directly to release the detector head; the standard extractor cannot remotely remove a locked head. For several VAD positions, the S4-705 five-pack supplies plates to use with separate S4-700 bases.

Can the S4-701 be fitted to a solid ceiling?

Yes. The base and IP21 plate assembly can be installed at a solid ceiling as well as at a ceiling tile. Align and clip the two parts together, prepare the cable and fixing openings, and secure the assembly to a metal back box. Use two suitable fixing screws, which are not included. Maintain earth continuity through the loop and connect the earth securely to the box. Keep excess wire short and flat inside the base before fitting the detector head.

Can the detector head be locked into the S4-701?

Yes. The S4-701 includes an S4-700 base, which has an optional locking peg. Remove the peg from its base cutout, insert it into the locking position and pierce the matching opening in the detector head. Once the head is secured, removal requires direct access to the peg. Press it inward and rotate the head anticlockwise before lifting the head away. The standard detector extractor cannot release a locked head remotely; the peg must be reached at the detector.
