Required to operate
Needed to install, power or certify this product.

IP21 base and base cover (pack of 1)
VAD requires the IP21 base/mounting plate to achieve IP21 and EN54-23 compliance.

Base - Common for all S-Quad Sensors
S-Quad sensor plugs into its dedicated S4-700 base

IP21 base covers (pack 5)
VAD/Sounder S-Quad must use Base with IP21 Plate to meet Standards
Overview
What it is and how it fits the system.
The Gent S4-711-VAD-HPR is an S4 dual optical and heat sensor with an integral high-performance red Visual Alarm Device. It combines smoke and heat detection with high-performance red visual signalling in one addressable unit. With a load factor of 10, up to 100 are supported per loop.
Technical overview
S4-711-VAD-HPR is a Gent by Honeywell S4 Dual OH (Dual Optical & Heat) sensor with an integral High Performance Red VAD, part of the S4 Detectors range and its Detectors with VAD sub-range. It combines smoke and heat detection with high-performance red visual signalling in one addressable unit, carrying a load factor of 10 and supporting up to 100 devices per loop.
The unit operates from -10°C to +50°C and offers selectable red VAD coverage across high, medium and low intensity settings (C-3-14, C-3-13 and C-3-10 respectively, each with an open-category alternative). It holds EN54 certification covering smoke and heat detection (Parts 7 and 5), the visual alarm device (Part 23), sounder and voice sounder output (Part 3), the loop isolator (Part 17) and input/output functions (Part 18), spanning EN54-5, 7, 17, 18 and 23.
It runs on the addressable loop circuit alongside sensors, sounders, manual call points and interface units, up to a combined maximum of 127 devices, with the loop protecting no more than 10,000 m² of a site. Where installed in a Nano panel based system, (HP) S-Quad devices revert to LOW VAD performance only. Compliant mounting requires the IP21 base and base cover (S4-701), the common S4-700 base and IP21 base covers (S4-705), while the 34000 S-Quad Adapter Base (S4-700-34K) is recommended for retrofitting onto an existing 34000 base. It supersedes the S4-711-ST. For physical connections, refer to the installation manual.
