Description

The Gent S4BK-711 is a black S-Quad dual optical smoke and heat detector for Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano fire alarm loops. It combines forward and backward optical sensing with heat detection in one head, with a built-in short-circuit isolator. The black body is a colour option; its sensor states and sensing channels match the white S4-711. State 0 combines normal smoke sensitivity with Class A1 heat, while other states change the smoke and heat response. It takes power from the loop and fits the separately ordered S4BK-700 black base. This is the sensor-only model, without a sounder, speech or visual alarm. Supplied with one detector head and one blue protective dust cover.

The S4BK-711 combines dual optical smoke sensing and heat detection in a black S-Quad head. Analogue channel 1 carries forward-scatter optical readings, channel 2 carries heat readings and channel 4 carries backward-scatter optical readings. It includes a short-circuit isolator and works on Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano loops.

The factory setting is State 0, combining normal optical smoke sensitivity with Class A1 heat response. Ten detection states are available: 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12. These provide different combinations of smoke sensitivity and heat response, including Class B, BS and A2S heat options. State 12 provides Class A1 heat detection with optical detection off. States 2, 6 and 11 have EN 54-5 approval only.

The black housing changes the colour of the S4-711 sensor option. The two models share sensor states, analogue channels and commissioning identification: the commissioning tool treats the S4BK and S4 prefixes alike for equivalent devices. The S4BK-711 is sensor-only. The S4BK-711-V adds voice sound, and the S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR combines voice sound with a High Power red visual alarm.

The S-Quad range takes power from a 35-48 V loop. Its base input/output can be configured as a monitored input or an unmonitored output, with the factory output setting driving an external repeat LED. The maximum cable run from the base to the external input/output unit is 15 m.

Order the S4BK-700 black base separately. The S-Quad range has an ABS enclosure and a head diameter of 117 mm, with a head height of 49.6 mm rising to 63.8 mm with the standard base. Its operating range is -10°C to +50°C, with storage from -20°C to +70°C and up to 95% non-condensing relative humidity from +5°C to +45°C. IP21C applies when the base is mounted on an IP21 plate; S4BK-705 is the black plate option.
