Description

The Gent S4BK-700 is the black common base for S-Quad sensor heads. It holds the head and provides the loop cable connections at the ceiling. The base mounts on a metal back box, with the loop earth kept continuous and secured to the box. The head twists into place and can be secured with the locking peg built into the base. Slotted fixing holes give 50 to 80mm centres. It also fits the S-Quad Self-Test range. For a ceiling detector with a VAD, fit the S4BK-705 IP21 plate between the base and ceiling. The plate is a separate part. The loop wires remain at the base when the head is removed.

The S4BK-700 is the black base for black S-Quad detection and alarm heads, including black S-Quad Self-Test detectors. The loop wiring terminates at the base, and the head fits by turning clockwise until it clicks into place and the alignment marks meet.

The S4BK-700 is the black base for black S-Quad detection and alarm heads, including black S-Quad Self-Test detectors. The loop wiring terminates at the base, and the head fits by turning clockwise until it clicks into place and the alignment marks meet.

The base is 115mm in diameter and has elongated fixing holes with centres from 50 to 80mm. Mount it on a metal back box. Carry earth continuity through the loop and secure the earth to the box. Keep spare wire short and flat within the base so that it does not obstruct the head.

For a secured installation, release the locking peg from its cutout in the base, insert it in the locking position and pierce the corresponding opening in the head. Removal then requires direct access to the peg. Press the peg inward and turn the head anticlockwise; the standard extractor cannot remotely release a locked head.

For a ceiling S-Quad detector with an integral VAD, add the S4BK-705 IP21 plate above the base. The plate clips to the base and seals around the cable entries. A detector without a VAD uses the common base alone.

FAQs

Which detectors fit the S4BK-700?

The S4BK-700 is the black common base for black S-Quad detection and alarm heads, including black S-Quad Self-Test detectors. The head plugs into the base and turns clockwise until it clicks into place. The loop wiring stays at the base. For a ceiling detector with a built-in VAD, the installation also uses an IP21 plate between the base and the ceiling. A detector without a VAD uses the common base alone.

Does the S4BK-700 need an IP21 plate?

A ceiling S-Quad detector with an integral VAD uses the S4BK-700 together with the S4BK-705 IP21 plate. The plate sits between the base and the ceiling and clips to the base before the assembly is secured to its metal box. Pierce the cable entry holes smaller than the cable diameter so that the plate closes around each cable. A S-Quad detector without a VAD uses the common base alone; the plate is an additional part for the VAD installation.

How is the S4BK-700 mounted?

Mount the S4BK-700 on a metal back box and secure the loop earth to that box. Earth continuity must run through the complete loop. The base has elongated fixing holes with centres from 50 to 80mm, and its diameter is 115mm. Route the loop cables through the base, make the connections and keep excess wire short and flat inside it. The head then turns clockwise into place until it clicks and the marks on the head and base align.

How does the S4BK-700 locking peg work?

The S4BK-700 has a locking peg in a cutout in the base. To use it, remove the peg from the cutout, insert it into the locking position and pierce the corresponding opening in the detector head. Once the head is locked, release requires direct access to the peg. Press the peg inward while turning the head anticlockwise, then remove the head. The standard detector removal tool cannot release a locked head remotely; the peg must be reached at the device.

How do I fit or remove a head on the S4BK-700?

Offer the head to the S4BK-700 and turn it clockwise until it rises into the base. Continue turning until it clicks, stops and the alignment marks meet. To remove an unlocked head, turn it anticlockwise to the stop and lift it away from the base. If the locking peg is fitted, press it inward before turning the head. Keep the loop wiring short and flat inside the base so that loose cable does not obstruct the head as it is fitted.
