Description

The Gent S4TB-711-V-VAD-HPR is a black S-Quad Self-Test dual optical smoke and heat detector with a voice sounder and High Power red VAD. It runs on Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus loops with compatible firmware, combining detection and audible and visual alarms in one head. Self-Test uses the CLSS app and a gateway, with a licence needed to activate testing. In the Self-Test range, real aerosol tests the optical sensor and heat tests the thermistor. The black model shares sensor states and sensing channels with the white S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR. It takes power from the loop and fits the separately ordered S4BK-700 black base. Supplied with one detector head and one orange protective dust cover.

The S4TB-711-V-VAD-HPR belongs to the S-Quad Self-Test range and combines dual optical smoke sensing, heat detection, voice sound and a High Power red VAD. Its analogue channels carry forward optical readings on channel 1, heat on channel 2, backward optical readings on channel 4 and sounder, speech and VAD faults on channel 5. The black housing is a colour option sharing those channels and sensor states with the white S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR.

In the S-Quad Self-Test range, optical testing uses a small amount of aerosol generated inside the device. A fan moves it through the sensing chamber and out through the smoke entry points, checking the smoke path as well as the sensor response. Heat testing warms the thermistor and checks its response. The CLSS app supports the testing workflow, while Bluetooth identification supports the engineer’s separate visual inspection.

Self-Test requires an activated CLSS licence, the mobile app and a gateway connection. The panel processes pass/fail results, which reach the cloud and app through the gateway. For S-Quad Self-Test operation on Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus, use MCC/MCB software 4.64 or later, LPC software 4.58 or later and Vigilon Commissioning Tool V1.40 or later.

The S-Quad Self-Test red High Power VAD range gives ceiling coverage of C-3-14 at High Power, C-3-13 at Medium Power and C-3-10 at Low Power, with the stated compatible panel software. Use the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator for system design. The range’s sounder tones include intermittent 933 Hz, alternating 933/700 Hz and continuous 933 Hz. Sounder and VAD outputs synchronise across all loops of one panel; synchronisation does not extend across a network of panels.

Use the separately ordered S4BK-700 black base. S4BK-705 is the black IP21C plate for the Self-Test range. The range is loop powered at 35-48 V, with an ABS outer housing and IP21C ingress protection. Its head is 117 mm in diameter and 63 mm high, rising to 70 mm with the standard base. The range operates from -10°C to +50°C, stores from -20°C to +65°C and accepts up to 95% non-condensing relative humidity from +5°C to +45°C.

FAQs

How does Self-Test work on the S4TB-711-V-VAD-HPR?

In the S-Quad Self-Test range, a small internal aerosol source produces smoke for an optical sensor test. A fan moves the aerosol through the sensing chamber and out through the smoke entry points, checking the smoke path. The heat test warms the thermistor and checks its response. The S4TB-711-V-VAD-HPR combines dual optical and heat sensing with voice sound and a High Power red VAD. Testing uses CLSS, and the engineer’s visual inspection remains a separate part of the workflow.

What is needed to enable Self-Test on this black detector?

Self-Test needs an activated CLSS licence, the CLSS mobile app and a gateway connection to a compatible Vigilon Plus or Compact Plus system. For the S-Quad Self-Test range, MCC/MCB software must be 4.64 or later and LPC software 4.58 or later, with Vigilon Commissioning Tool V1.40 or later. The panel processes test pass/fail results and sends them through the gateway to the cloud and app. Bluetooth identification supports the engineer when carrying out the separate visual inspection of the detector.

How does it compare with the white S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR?

The black S4TB-711-V-VAD-HPR and white S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR belong to the same Self-Test product range. Both combine dual optical smoke and heat detection with voice sound and a High Power red VAD. Their sensor states and sensing channels are shared; the housing colour changes. State 0 is the factory setting, combining normal optical sensitivity with Category A1 heat response. The black model fits the separately ordered S4BK-700 base. Self-Test activation requires a CLSS licence, mobile app and gateway connection.

How should the sounder and VAD current be allowed for?

For the S-Quad Self-Test range, sounder current is 2 mA average and 4.5 mA maximum in Turbo mode. The red High Power VAD has a maximum current demand of 16 mA at High Power, 11.5 mA at Medium Power and 6 mA at Low Power. Use the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator to account for the selected alarm settings and the complete loop. The S4TB-711-V-VAD-HPR combines detection, voice sound and a red VAD, powered from the fire alarm loop.

Which base fits the S4TB-711-V-VAD-HPR and what are its dimensions?

The black S4BK-700 base fits the S4TB-711-V-VAD-HPR and is ordered separately from the head. The S4BK-705 is the black IP21C plate for the Self-Test range. Range head dimensions are 117 mm diameter by 63 mm high, with height rising to 70 mm when fitted to the standard base. The Self-Test range has an ABS outer housing, IP21C ingress protection and an operating temperature range of -10°C to +50°C. Its storage temperature range is -20°C to +65°C.
