Description
The Gent S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR combines dual optical and heat detection, a voice sounder and a High Power red VAD. It reads smoke at two angles and measures heat with a thermistor. Self-test uses aerosol to test the optical channels and warms the heat element to check its response. The voice sounder gives an attention tone followed by a stored message, while the VAD provides a red flash. This white head fits an S4-700 base with an S4-705 IP21C plate and takes power from the loop. It belongs to the S-Quad Self-Test range for Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus. Testing uses the CLSS app, a gateway and a Self-Test licence.
The S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR pairs dual optical and heat detection with a voice sounder and a High Power red VAD. Two transmitting LEDs and an infrared receiver measure smoke at two angles within one optical chamber. The panel compares the readings as a ratio, helping it distinguish certain smoke aerosols from dust or steam. The extended optical measuring range allows use where dust or steam occurs occasionally. A separate thermistor provides heat sensing.

Optical self-test generates paraffin aerosol and moves it into the chamber with a variable-speed fan. Readings from both optical channels are checked. The fan then increases airflow to clear the aerosol through the smoke entry points, with the panel checking the decline in readings and their return to ambient levels. Heat self-test warms the thermistor and checks its thermal response.
The voice sounder stores four default English messages and a bell tone. The messages cover emergency evacuation, waiting for further instructions, a system test and fire evacuation. An attention tone precedes the spoken message. The S4T speech function holds up to 20 seconds of audio; its normal 10-second signal period can be extended to 30 seconds. The stored messages can be reprogrammed. The High Power red VAD is ceiling mounted. Its category C coverage is C-3-14 at High Power, C-3-13 at Medium Power and C-3-10 at Low Power, corresponding to 461.8, 398.1 and 235.6 cubic metres. These coverage settings require compliant operation and a two-second flash period; High and Medium Power require an Enhanced Loop Card. Position the combined detector and VAD to meet both detection and visual-warning needs. Across the S4T range, outputs in the same sector synchronise across the loops of one panel. Synchronisation does not extend across a network of panels.
The head fits an S4-700 base with an S4-705 IP21C plate, mounted on a metal back box. Use screened two-core fire-rated loop cable with conductors from 1.5 to 2.5 mm² and maintain earth continuity. Supplied with one detector head and one orange dust cover. The cover protects the detector during building work and must be removed before commissioning. The S4T range has IP21C housings measuring 117 mm in diameter and 63 mm high, increasing to 70 mm with the standard base.
The S-Quad Self-Test range operates on Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus systems with compatible firmware, SD-card MCC or MCB hardware and a VIGPLUS-LPC-EN loop card. Self-test requires a CLSS gateway for each network domain, the CLSS mobile app and an active Self-Test licence. Run testing with the panel in Service mode. Configure the system with Vigilon Commissioning Tool V1.40 or later, and calculate the loop load and standby requirement with the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator.

FAQs
Which sensors does the S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR self-test?
The S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR tests its dual optical smoke sensor and its heat thermistor. It generates aerosol and moves it into the optical chamber, where both optical readings are verified. The fan then clears the aerosol through the smoke entry points while the panel checks the return to ambient readings. Heating the thermistor provides the heat test. The same head also carries a voice sounder and a High Power red VAD, bringing sensing, audible messages and visual warning together.
What can the S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR announce?
The S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR combines a voice sounder with its High Power red VAD. The default audio set contains four English messages and a bell tone. The spoken messages cover evacuation, waiting for further instructions, a test and a fire alarm evacuation. An attention tone precedes speech. The S4T speech function has capacity for 20 seconds of audio, with a normal signal period of 10 seconds adjustable to 30 seconds. The factory message set can be reprogrammed for the system.
What ceiling coverage does the S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR provide?
At High Power, the S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR red VAD has category C-3-14 coverage of 461.8 cubic metres. Medium Power gives C-3-13 and 398.1 cubic metres; Low Power gives C-3-10 and 235.6 cubic metres. These settings require compliant operation and a two-second flash period. High and Medium Power need an Enhanced Loop Card. The category C code expresses ceiling height and coverage diameter. Siting must satisfy both the detector coverage and the visual warning needs of the protected space.
How does VAD power affect the S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR loop load?
For the S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR, the VAD alone takes a maximum of 16 mA at High Power, 11.5 mA at Medium Power or 6 mA at Low Power. Combined VAD and sounder current reaches 20.5, 16 or 10.5 mA respectively with Turbo enabled, and 18, 13.5 or 8 mA without Turbo. Use the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator to account for the selected setting, the other devices on the loop, cable loading and the system standby requirement.
How is the S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR installed and tested?
Mount the S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR on an S4-700 base with an S4-705 IP21C plate fixed to a metal back box. The VAD requires a flat ceiling surface and its position must suit detection and visual warning. Self-Test operation uses a supported Vigilon Plus or Compact Plus system with a VIGPLUS-LPC-EN loop card. Testing runs through the CLSS app with a gateway and an active licence. The supplied dust cover must be removed before commissioning. This order code is the white version of the combined detector.
