Description

The Gent S4T-711-V combines dual optical and heat detection with a voice sounder and sensor self-test. Its optical chamber reads smoke at two angles, while a thermistor measures heat. Stored speech follows an attention tone, with four English messages and a bell tone available as defaults. Self-test uses aerosol to test the optical channels and warms the heat element to check its response. This white model is part of the S-Quad Self-Test range for Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus. It takes power from the loop and fits an S4-700 base. The CLSS app runs self-test through a gateway with an active Self-Test licence.

The S4T-711-V pairs dual optical and heat detection with a voice sounder. Two transmitting LEDs and an infrared receiver measure smoke at two angles within one optical chamber. The panel compares the readings as a ratio, helping it distinguish certain smoke aerosols from dust or steam. The extended optical measuring range allows use where dust or steam occurs occasionally. A separate thermistor provides heat sensing.

Optical self-test generates paraffin aerosol and moves it into the chamber with a variable-speed fan. Readings from both optical channels are checked. The fan then increases airflow to clear the aerosol through the smoke entry points, with the panel checking the decline in readings and their return to ambient levels. Heat self-test warms the thermistor and checks its thermal response.

The voice sounder stores four default English messages and a bell tone. The messages cover emergency evacuation, waiting for further instructions, a system test and fire evacuation. An attention tone precedes the spoken message. The S4T speech function holds up to 20 seconds of audio; its normal 10-second signal period can be extended to 30 seconds. The stored messages can be reprogrammed. Across the S4T range, outputs in the same sector synchronise across the loops of one panel. Synchronisation does not extend across a network of panels.

The head fits the S4-700 base, which requires a metal back box. Use screened two-core fire-rated loop cable with conductors from 1.5 to 2.5 mm² and maintain earth continuity. Supplied with one detector head and one orange dust cover. The cover protects the detector during building work and must be removed before commissioning. The S4T range has IP21C housings measuring 117 mm in diameter and 63 mm high, increasing to 70 mm with the standard base.

The S-Quad Self-Test range operates on Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus systems with compatible firmware, SD-card MCC or MCB hardware and a VIGPLUS-LPC-EN loop card. Self-test requires a CLSS gateway for each network domain, the CLSS mobile app and an active Self-Test licence. Run testing with the panel in Service mode. Configure the system with Vigilon Commissioning Tool V1.40 or later, and calculate the loop load and standby requirement with the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator.

FAQs

Which voice messages are available on the S4T-711-V?

The S4T-711-V has four default English spoken messages plus a bell tone. They cover emergency evacuation, waiting for further instructions, a system test and fire evacuation. An attention tone precedes the spoken announcement. The S4T speech function stores up to 20 seconds of audio, and the signal period can be increased from its normal 10 seconds to 30 seconds. Factory messages can be reprogrammed. This model combines speech with dual optical and heat sensing, without an integral VAD.

How does the S4T-711-V sense smoke and heat?

The S4T-711-V uses two optical measuring angles in one smoke chamber and a separate heat sensing thermistor. Two LEDs and an infrared receiver provide the optical readings. The panel compares those readings as a ratio, helping distinguish certain smoke aerosols from dust or steam. The selected detection state determines how the panel processes the sensor readings. A voice sounder is integrated in this head, so the model combines the dual optical and heat sensing functions with spoken alarm messages.

What happens during sensor self-test on the S4T-711-V?

Aerosol is generated inside the S4T-711-V and moved into the optical chamber, where both optical channels are checked. The fan then clears the aerosol through the smoke entry points and the panel checks that readings return to ambient levels. Heat self-test warms the thermistor and checks its response over time. The voice circuit is also monitored for faults during normal operation. The sensor tests are initiated through CLSS and require the gateway connection and an active Self-Test licence.

What does the S4T-711-V sounder current figure cover?

The S4T sounder function draws 2 mA on average, with a maximum of 4.5 mA in Turbo mode. On the S4T-711-V, this is the audible function associated with the integrated voice sounder. Use the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator for the complete installation, including the chosen output settings and standby requirement. The detector is powered from the loop at the S4T range operating voltage of 35 to 48 V, and it includes a short-circuit isolator.

What mounting and controls does the S4T-711-V use?

The S4T-711-V fits an S4-700 base on a metal back box. It belongs to the Self-Test range for Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus with supported firmware, SD-card controller hardware and a VIGPLUS-LPC-EN loop card. Self-test needs the CLSS app, a gateway and an active licence. The S4T speech function is monitored silently for faults. Sounder and voice outputs synchronise within their sector across loops of the same panel; synchronisation does not extend across a network of panels.
