What it is and how it fits the system.
The Gent S4T-711-VAD-HPR is an S4 SELF-TEST Dual Optical Heat Sensor with High Power Red VAD from the S-Quad Self-Test (S4T) series, pairing dual optical and heat detection with an integrated visual alarm device. It operates on a 35V-48V loop, drawing 2mA average (4.5mA in Turbo mode), and runs smoke and heat self-test across an expected 0 to 40°C range. The sensor head measures 117mm in diameter by 63mm high and weighs 152g.
Technical overview
S4T-711-VAD-HPR is a self-testing multi-sensor detector, reading smoke through a dual-optical chamber and temperature through a heat element, while a high-power red beacon on the same head provides the visual alarm. This detector belongs to the Gent S4T Self-Test family of S-Quad multi-sensors, whose defining trait is autonomous checking: the head exercises its own smoke and heat paths, dropping offline for only 60 seconds, with the routine expected to run between 0 and 40°C. Staff run the checks and configure the head over a Bluetooth link near 10m via the CLSS mobile app.
Its head is moulded from Terluran ABS, finished in either black (RAL 9005) or white (RAL 9010), and measures 117 mm across by 63 mm tall, rising to 70 mm on a base; it weighs 152 g alone or 212 g with the standard base. The unit runs between -10°C and +50°C, stores from -20°C to +65°C, and copes with humidity up to 95% without condensation.
The required S4-700 common base carries all S-Quad Self-Test sensors, and an optional IP21C base cover plate (S4-705), an S-Quad semi-flush mounting kit for these sensors (S4-FLUSH) and an external repeat LED (13449-01) can be added. Once installed the head reaches IP21C and holds LPCB approval, CE & UKCA. Self-Test and its Bluetooth functions work only on Gent Vigilon and Compact Plus panels, over current EN54 loop cards rather than legacy ones, and rely on a CLSS gateway of one per network domain.
