Description

The Gent S4-770-S is an addressable optical and heat sensor with an integral sounder for Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano panels. A single optical smoke channel and a heat element provide fire sensing, with ten modes selected at commissioning. The S-Quad sounder function gives an average 85 dB(A) at 1 m, with three tone signals and a soft start option. The head is loop powered and includes a short circuit isolator. It fits the separate S4-700 mounting base. Analogue channel 5 reports sounder faults to the control panel. The factory sensing mode combines normal optical sensitivity and Class A1 heat.

The S4-770-S combines a single forward-scatter smoke chamber, a thermistor and an integral sounder. Analogue channels 1 and 2 carry smoke and heat readings; channel 5 reports sounder faults. The marking is OH/S. It provides alarm tones without speech or a visual alarm device. For dual-angle optical sensing with heat and a sounder, the corresponding model is S4-771-S.

The ten sensing STATEs are 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12. STATE 0 combines normal optical sensitivity with Class A1 heat. Other choices include higher optical sensitivity, delayed optical response, and heat classes B, BS and A2S. STATE 12 gives Class A1 heat-only sensing. STATEs 2, 6, 11 and 12 do not meet EN 54-7.

The S-Quad sounder function has an average output of 85 dB(A) at 1 m, or 75 dB(A) at 3 m at a bedhead. Its typical on-axis level at 90 degrees is 92 dB(A), and turbo mode adds 3 dB. Tone choices are intermittent 970 Hz at 1 Hz, alternating 730/970 Hz at 2 Hz, and continuous 970 Hz, with a frequency tolerance of +/-10%. Volume is set individually; maintain at least 65 dB(A) at 1 m. Soft start can ramp the volume to its selected level.

S-Quad devices take power from the loop at 35 V to 48 V. This head includes a short circuit isolator. Its Nano load factor is 6.5; Nano allows a maximum of 127 devices on its loop. This maximum is subject to loop loading. Use the Battery Standby and Loop Load calculator to determine the installed device mix, cable length and standby requirement.

The S4-770-S fits the separately ordered S4-700 base. Mount the base on a metal back box and maintain loop earth continuity. The S4-FLUSH kit provides semi-flush ceiling mounting for white S-Quad heads.

S-Quad sounders synchronise across all loops of one panel; synchronisation does not extend across a network of panels. The sounder circuit is monitored silently for failure. Use Vigilon commissioning tool version 1.32 or later for device-setting changes. Remove the supplied dust cover before commissioning.
