Description

The Gent S4-34600 is an LED driver board for custom mimic panels on a Vigilon fire alarm system. It connects to a Master Repeat Card and drives up to 768 LEDs through six ribbon headers and connection converters. Two driver boards can share one Master Repeat Card to control up to 1536 LEDs. Use high-efficiency red, amber or green LEDs, wired within the custom enclosure. Each LED can be up to 3m of cable from its converter terminals. The board mounts on PCB standoffs, while the converters fit DIN rail. LED actions are set with the Mimic Configuration Tool and stored at the Master Repeat Card.

The S4-34600 drives the LEDs in a custom mimic panel. A Master Repeat Card links the LED driver to the Vigilon device loop, and the custom panel has a mains supply and battery standby. The LED-driver arrangement supports up to two boards connected to one Master Repeat Card.

The S4-34600 drives the LEDs in a custom mimic panel. A Master Repeat Card links the LED driver to the Vigilon device loop, and the custom panel has a mains supply and battery standby. The LED-driver arrangement supports up to two boards connected to one Master Repeat Card.

Each driver controls up to 768 LEDs through six 26-way IDC headers, P11 to P16. S4-34494 connection converters provide the wiring terminals, with up to 128 LEDs per converter. The LEDs must be high-efficiency red, amber or green types. Blue and white LEDs are unsuitable for this driver.

A 20-way flat-flexible cable connects the Master Repeat Card at P13 to the first driver at P5, its input. For a second driver, the first board’s P4 output connects to the second board’s P5 input. The boards mount on suitable PCB standoffs inside the custom enclosure. LED wiring remains within that enclosure, with a maximum 3m cable distance between each LED and its converter terminals.

The Mimic Configuration Tool loads an LED Driver template into the Master Repeat Card. Individual LED shapes can be linked to device, channel, zone or card fire and fault events, or to a supervisory command build. The shape identifies the relevant driver header and converter terminals. After configuration, the custom panel is tested against the system events it is intended to indicate.

FAQs

How many LEDs can the S4-34600 drive?

One board can drive up to 768 LEDs. Its six 26-way IDC headers connect to S4-34494 converters, each providing connections for up to 128 LEDs. A second driver board can be connected to the same Master Repeat Card, taking the two-board total to 1536 LEDs. The second board links from the first board’s output through a 20-way flat-flexible cable. The LED wiring and both driver boards form part of the same custom panel assembly.

Which LED types can be connected?

The S4-34600 uses red, amber or green high-efficiency LED types. Blue and white LEDs are unsuitable for this driver. Each LED connects through the terminal matrix on an S4-34494 converter, with a maximum cable distance of 3m from those terminals. The converter connects back to a 26-way header on the driver board. The LEDs, converters and internal wiring remain within the custom enclosure, while the Master Repeat Card holds the event configuration for the display.

How does the driver connect to the fire system?

The driver connects through a Master Repeat Card, which is connected to the Vigilon device loop. A 20-way flat-flexible cable runs from P13 on the Master Repeat Card to P5 on the first S4-34600. To add a second board, P4 on the first driver connects to P5 on the second. The custom panel also has its mains supply and battery standby. LED event settings are held at the Master Repeat Card and linked to the display shapes.

Can the LEDs show more than zone fire events?

Yes. An LED shape can be linked to device, channel, zone or card fire and fault events, or to a supervisory command build. The Mimic Configuration Tool uses an LED Driver template to associate each shape with the driver header and converter terminal pair. Those connections determine which physical LED responds to the selected system event. The configuration is held at the Master Repeat Card, and the completed custom panel is tested against its configured event indications.

How is the S4-34600 mounted?

The board mounts on suitable PCB standoffs inside the custom panel. It measures 160mm high, 150mm wide and 30mm deep, with a card weight of 150g. The S4-34494 converters mount separately on DIN rail within the enclosure and connect through 26-way ribbon cables. Standard PVC wiring connects the LEDs to the converter terminals, with a maximum run of 3m to each LED. The LEDs and their associated wiring stay inside the enclosure for mechanical protection.
