Description
The Gent S4-34418 is a single channel key switch interface for plant control in Gent analogue addressable fire alarm systems. The key contact provides one supervisory input, triggering a command build on channel 1 from a key operated position away from the panel. Power and address come from the device loop, connected loop in and loop out through a removable terminal block. The unit is supplied in a blue enclosure with its blue back box, two operating keys and one opening key. It mounts on the supplied back box or a standard electrical box, with surface and semi-flush mounting options.

The S4-34418 is a single channel key switch interface in a blue enclosure for plant control. Its key contact provides one supervisory input, and command builds use channel 1. The unit uses one loop address and takes power from the device loop at 35V to 48V. It is suitable for Gent analogue addressable fire alarm systems.
The field wiring consists of loop in and loop out connections on one removable terminal block accepting conductors up to 2.5mm². Connect the previous device to loop in and the next device to loop out. Maintain loop cable earth continuity through the supplied earth strap or the earth point in the back box.
Insert the operating key into the front keyhole and turn it clockwise to the stop. The red indicator flashes and the green indicator gives an operating indication. Reverse the procedure to return the switch to normal. The two positions are O for Normal and I for Active. The green indicator also serves the panel's find device function. Label a unit used for plant control to describe the plant it controls.
Mount the assembly on a standard electrical box or the supplied blue back box. For semi-flush mounting, flush the standard electrical box into the wall before fitting the assembly. The back box has three recessed cable entry centres at the top and one at the bottom; a maximum of two are usable. Use fire rated cables through the entries. Release the front cover with the end of the supplied opening key and lift it out from the bottom edge. Each unit includes one interface assembly, one blue back box, two operating keys, one opening key, one earth strap, two long screws and one instruction leaflet.
The unit is 88mm high by 88mm wide and 32mm deep, or 66mm deep when surface mounted. It weighs 128g without the back box and 192g with it. The case is ABS engineering plastic, blue similar to RAL 5015. Ingress protection is IP43 (estimated, not tested). Operating temperature is -25°C to +70°C, storage temperature is -30°C to +70°C, and relative humidity is up to 95 per cent non-condensing over +25°C to +55°C. Standards are EN 54 Part 17 and EN 54 Part 18.
