Description
The Gent S4-34440-02 is a mains powered interface with a 1.5A total output limit, combining an EN 54-4 battery backed power supply and a loop interface in one steel enclosure. It connects to a Vigilon or Nano loop and runs from its own 230V supply. Its four channels can be set up as inputs or outputs, with combined input and output configurations allowing up to eight external circuits. A fixed 24V auxiliary output supplies external equipment, and its load counts towards the total output limit. Standby batteries are ordered separately: the unit takes two 12V 2.1Ah batteries, order code 4015-502-YFR.
The S4-34440-02 connects to a Gent Vigilon or Nano loop and uses its own mains supply to power external equipment. Its maximum total output current is 1.5A, including the auxiliary output and the sector outputs. The S4-34440-12 has a 2.5A total output limit and is compatible with Vigilon; it cannot be fitted on a Nano loop.

The S4-34440-02 and S4-34440-12 each have four configurable channels. Combined input and output operation allows up to eight external circuits, including four sector outputs with four confirmation inputs. Both models support switch inputs and conventional detection zones. Their sector circuits supply 24V, with a maximum of 0.5A per output, and use a series blocking diode. The outputs supply power and do not provide dry relay contacts.
The S4-34440-02 auxiliary output supplies fixed, unregulated 24V at up to 0.5A, with a voltage tolerance of plus or minus 3V. The 12V option belongs to the S4-34440-12. For a volt free contact, an external relay can be connected to a sector output. The optional 19104-52 relay fits on the internal DIN rail and has a 24V DC coil with contacts rated 10A at 250V AC.
Standby power uses two 12V 2.1Ah batteries fitted inside the enclosure during commissioning. They are not included with the interface; order two 4015-502-YFR batteries. Both mains interface models use a 230V, 50Hz or 60Hz supply, with a tolerance of minus 15 to plus 10 per cent and a rated current of 0.7A. The supply connects through a disconnect device with at least a 3mm gap and an unswitched 5A fused spur.
On Vigilon systems, the S4 mains interface range uses Main Controller Card versions V4.43 or V3.97 with the corresponding Loop Processor Card versions V4.41 or V3.97, and commissioning tool V1.27 or later. A Nano installation uses the S4-34440-02 with Main Controller V2.50 or later and Nano commissioning tool V2.x. Channels are supplied set to unused and the auxiliary output is off. Configuration is carried out through the commissioning tool.
Door release applications to BS 7273 Part 4:2007 require an EN Vigilon system with compatible software, including Main Controller Card V4.48. The mains interface range cannot provide that application on a BS Vigilon or Nano panel. Both interface models have steel enclosures with an internal DIN rail for optional modules. Their shared enclosure dimensions are 478 x 322 x 145mm, with an assembled weight of approximately 5.25kg before batteries and optional components are fitted.

FAQs
How much can I run from an S4-34440-02?
The maximum combined output current is 1.5A. That limit includes the auxiliary supply and all sector outputs together. The sector outputs in the S4 mains interface range are each rated at up to 0.5A, and the S4-34440-02 auxiliary output is also rated at 0.5A. Each connected load must remain within its output rating as well as the total. The S4-34440-12 provides a 2.5A total output limit for Vigilon systems, but it cannot be used on a Nano loop.
Can I get a volt free contact from an S4-34440-02?
A sector channel supplies 24V to connected equipment and does not provide a dry relay contact. A separate relay can be driven from the output when a contact is needed. The optional 19104-52 low voltage power relay fits on the internal DIN rail; it has a 24V DC coil and contacts rated 10A at 250V AC. The sector output remains subject to its own 0.5A limit and requires a series blocking diode in the connected circuit.
Can the S4-34440-02 be connected to a Nano loop?
Yes. The S4-34440-02 supports a Nano loop with Main Controller V2.50 or later and Nano commissioning tool V2.x. The S4-34440-12 cannot be used on that loop. The S4-34440-02 has four configurable channels and a fixed 24V auxiliary output, with a combined output limit of 1.5A. It uses its own mains supply and two 12V 2.1Ah standby batteries. A Nano installation cannot use the mains interface for door release to BS 7273 Part 4:2007.
Which batteries does the S4-34440-02 take, and are they supplied?
The interface takes two 12V 2.1Ah standby batteries, ordered separately as two 4015-502-YFR batteries. They fit inside the steel enclosure during commissioning. The S4-34440-02 uses its own 230V mains supply and the batteries provide standby power when that supply fails. Battery capacity is specific to the variant: the S4-34440-02 takes the 2.1Ah pair, while the S4-34440-12 takes two 12Ah batteries. The S4-34440-02 has a 1.5A total output limit across its auxiliary supply and sector outputs.
Can the S4-34440-02 drive door release to BS 7273 Part 4?
The mains interface range supports door release to BS 7273 Part 4:2007 on an EN Vigilon system with compatible software. The Main Controller Card version required for this application is V4.48. A BS Vigilon or Nano panel cannot provide this application through the mains interface. The sector output powers the connected door holder and requires a series blocking diode. Its load counts towards the S4-34440-02 combined output limit of 1.5A, alongside the other sector outputs and auxiliary supply.
