Overview

What it is and how it fits the system.

The Xtralis S4-34440-ASD is a Mains Powered Interface Unit Mk 3 housed in a steel enclosure measuring 478mm x 322mm x 145mm and weighing approximately 5.25kg excluding batteries and optional modules. It runs from a 230V (-15%/+10%) 50/60Hz 0.7A supply, delivering a maximum total output current of 1.5A, and accommodates two 12V 14Ah Powersonic PS-12140 batteries. The enclosure carries an estimated IP31 rating with a Graphite Grey (RAL 7024) door.

Technical overview

S4-34440-ASD is a mains-powered ASD interface unit that links FAAST LT and FAAST 8100E aspirating smoke detection units to a Vigilon fire panel. The interface provides power and signal conditioning for up to four sector or zone circuits and can be configured for single-port or dual-port operation.

The unit runs from a 230 V AC supply with a tolerance of -15% to +10% at 50/60 Hz and delivers a maximum total output current of 1.5 A. Housed in an IP31-rated steel enclosure with a graphite grey door and backbox, it operates in ambient temperatures from -10 °C to +45 °C. Auxiliary outputs can be set for 12 V or 24 V working, with current limits arranged to reset the connected FAAST units.

Zone nominal voltage is selectable at 16 V or 22.5 V default, with quiescent current of 20 mA per zone and short circuit protection limited to under 30 mA. Standby capability supports 24-hour operation for FAAST LT FL0112E and FL0122E models and up to 48-hour for FL0111E. The two 12 V 14 Ah standby batteries required for compliance are packaged separately, and an optional relay module, part number 19104-52, can be mounted on the internal DIN rail. The interface is designed to meet EN54 Part 4: 1997 + A1: 2002, Part 17: 2005 and Part 18: 2005, and meets EMC requirements to BS EN 61000-6-3 and BS EN 50130-4.
