Description

The Gent S4-34411 is the single output low voltage interface module for Vigilon and 34000 fire alarm systems. It gives one set of single-pole changeover contacts, NC, COM and NO, for switching a DC load from the fire alarm system, rated 5A at 30V DC maximum into a resistive load. There is no input of any kind on this module: it switches external equipment, it does not watch it. It takes its power and its address from the loop and includes loop isolators for device isolation. It is supplied as a DIN rail mountable module, for fitting inside other equipment that houses a DIN rail.

The S4-34411 is an output-only interface for DC switching. Its relay provides single-pole changeover contacts, NC, COM and NO, rated up to 5A at 30V DC into a resistive load. The relay contacts also have a 12A at 230V AC, 50Hz rating; the module's switching application is DC. For mains switching, the S4-34401 provides one output and the S4-34404 provides four.

There is no switch input, zone input or confirmation input. The module switches external equipment without monitoring its response. The S4-34410 provides a separate monitored input where a contact needs to be read, while the S4-34420 combines one input with its own changeover relay. The S4-34411 and S4-34415 use the same single-output electronics in different mounting formats.

Protect the output with an external fuse of the type and current rating required by the connected load. Use suitably rated output cable and keep it as far from the loop cable as the installation allows. Cable glands must meet UL94V-1 or better, and drain wires must be no longer than 50mm and sleeved. Continue the loop cable screen through each interface. Terminals accept 2.5mm² conductors.

The S4-34411 and S4-34415 are loop powered, include loop isolators and each use one of the 200 available device addresses. They report their device type when polled by the panel and support soft or SAFE addressing. Their loop operating voltage is 35V to 48V. Vigilon and 34000 systems need loop card V4.33 or later with main control card V4.31 or later, or loop card V3.92 or later with main control card V3.90 or later. Configuration uses the Gent Commissioning Tool.

The S4-34411 is a DIN rail module measuring 125 x 75 x 48mm and weighing 138g. It hooks onto a standard DIN rail and locks into place inside other equipment. The rail must connect electrically to the loop cable screen. The S4-34415 supplies the same board with its PCB cover fitted inside a dark grey metal box, measuring 202 x 125 x 50mm and weighing 800g. Both formats operate from -5°C to +40°C, with storage from -30°C to +70°C and up to 95% non-condensing relative humidity at +5°C to +40°C.

What does the S4-34411 switch, and at what rating?

The S4-34411 switches DC loads up to 5A at 30V DC into a resistive load. Its single-pole changeover relay brings out NC, COM and NO, allowing the connected circuit to make or break when the relay operates. The module uses one loop address and has no input, so it cannot monitor a response from the equipment it switches. The output needs an external fuse whose type and current rating suit the connected load, with suitably rated output cabling.
