- Monitored fire, fault or supervisory inputThe input on terminals 6 and 5 works on either normally open or normally closed contacts and can be programmed as a fire, fault or supervisory (non fire) input. It is wired with a 10K resistor in series with the contacts plus a 10K end-of-line resistor over a run of up to 300 metres, and short and open circuit faults are detected in every input mode.
- Acceptance delay to ride out contact bounceThe input can be set to accept a signal only once it has stayed active for a set period, up to 10 seconds on a fire input and up to 300 seconds on a fault or supervisory input. The delay is set during commissioning and is the usual answer to a contact that chatters.
- Conventional zone on the same inputThe same input can be configured as a zone input for conventional detectors and manual call points, every call point carrying a 470 Ohm resistor or a 3V9 zener diode in series with its normally open contacts, the zone taking up to 2mA quiescent and 9mA in alarm at 24V nominal over a run of up to 100 metres and terminating in the supplied end-of-line capacitor unit.
- Input only, with no outputThis module has no relay or LED output and no confirmation function. It monitors clean contacts or a conventional zone. Where an output or confirmation function is needed, the S4-34420 provides one input and one relay output, and the S4-34450 provides four configurable channels.
- Loop powered, for Vigilon and 34000 panelsIt takes its power and its communications from the loop, includes a loop isolator for device isolation, uses one of the 207 device addresses available on a loop and counts a load factor of 1 as a switch input. Vigilon and 34000 systems need compatible MCC/MCB and LPC firmware, and the module is commissioned with the Commissioning Tool software version 1.21 or greater.
- Supplied without an enclosureSupplied with eight 10K resistors and one end-of-line capacitor unit. The module is about 92g and 93 x 90 x 23mm; the M200E-SMB surface box, S4-34492 metal box, S4-34496 six-way enclosure, S4-34490 plastic box and S4-34491 DIN rail brackets are separate order codes.
Description
The Gent S4-34410 is the single-input low voltage interface module for Vigilon and 34000 fire alarm systems. Its one monitored input can be programmed as a fire, fault or supervisory input on either normally open or normally closed contacts, letting the fire alarm system take a signal from plant or another system through a clean pair of contacts, or set as a zone input for conventional detectors and manual call points. Short and open circuit faults are detected in every input mode. The module takes its power and its address from the loop and includes a loop isolator. It has no output. Supplied with eight 10K resistors and an end-of-line capacitor unit, without an enclosure.
The S4-34410 monitors one input circuit on terminals 6 and 5. It accepts normally open or normally closed clean contacts with a 10K series resistor and a 10K end-of-line resistor over up to 300 metres. The channel can be configured as fire, fault or supervisory. Acceptance delays allow the input to remain active for a chosen period before it is accepted: up to 10 seconds for fire, or up to 300 seconds for fault and supervisory inputs. The module detects open and short circuit faults in every input mode.

The input can also connect a zone of conventional detectors and manual call points to the addressable loop. Every manual call point on that zone needs a 470 Ohm resistor or a 3V9 zener diode in series with its normally open contacts. The zone carries a load of up to 2mA quiescent and 9mA in alarm at 24V nominal, with a minimum operating voltage of 18V, over a run of up to 100 metres, and the circuit is terminated with the supplied end-of-line capacitor unit. The S4 LV range has a load factor of 26 for a zone-input configuration, with a maximum of 30 per loop. Zone input is supported on all compatible Gent addressable panels, Nano included.
The S4-34410 has no relay or LED output and no confirmation function. It monitors a contact or a conventional zone. Where a relay output is needed, the S4-34420 combines one input with a single-pole changeover relay rated 1A at 30V ac/dc into a resistive load. The S4-34450 provides any combination of up to four inputs or outputs.
Within the S4 LV trio, modules configured as switch inputs have a load factor of 1, with a maximum of 200 modules per loop. Like every module in the S4 low voltage range it is loop powered, includes a loop isolator for device isolation, and uses one of the 207 device addresses available on a loop, responding to regular polls from the control panel with its device type and the status, open, normal or short, of its supervised input circuit. The loop connects at terminals 4 to 1. The loop cable screen must be carried through each interface module, and the loop and switch input cable screens, where used, must connect to an earth terminal.
For Vigilon and 34000 systems, compatible firmware pairs are LPC V3.93 with MCC/MCB V3.94, or LPC V4.35 with MCC/MCB V4.37. Configuration is done with the Commissioning Tool software, version 1.21 or greater, where the channel is set to unused, to a fire, fault or supervisory input, or to a zone input, along with any acceptance delay.
The module comes with its plug-in terminal blocks, eight 10K resistors and one end-of-line capacitor unit. The white module measures 93 x 90 x 23mm and weighs about 92g without an enclosure. The M200E-SMB surface mounting box, formerly S4-34493, suits a single module. The S4-34492 small metal box has 20mm and 25mm knockouts, and the S4-34496 houses six interfaces together. S4-34491 DIN rail brackets come in packs of five for mounting inside other equipment. The module assembly has IP31 protection in the S4-34490 plastic box. The S4 low voltage trio operates from -10°C to +60°C, with storage from -30°C to +70°C and up to 95% non-condensing relative humidity at +5°C to +45°C.

FAQs
How do you configure a Gent S4-34410?
Use the Gent Commissioning Tool, version 1.21 or later; the S4 range cannot be set up from the panel. Declare the module an interface unit, choose the loop powered variant and confirm yes at the low voltage prompt. On the S4-LV page channel 1 carries the input, set as fire, fault or supervisory on normally open or normally closed contacts. Channels 2, 3 and 4 do nothing on this model and are left unused. Then save, send it down to the panel, back up the cards and reallocate the loop.
Does the S4-34410 come with an enclosure, and which box do I need?
The module comes with eight 10K resistors and an end-of-line capacitor unit; the enclosure is separate. For a single interface the M200E-SMB surface mounting box, previously listed as S4-34493, is the cost-effective choice, while the small metal S4-34492, with 20mm and 25mm knockouts, is the one we recommend. Where several interfaces sit together the S4-34496 holds six. The large plastic S4-34490 will take one module, but its six knockouts really suit the four-channel S4-34450, and S4-34491 DIN rail brackets come in packs of five.
Does the S4-34410 need a separate power supply?
No. It is loop powered, taking both its power and its communications from the Gent loop, so there is no separate PSU, mains feed or standby battery to house. It includes a loop isolator, uses one of the 207 device addresses on a loop and, as a switch input, counts a load factor of one within a maximum of 200 devices per loop. In switch-input mode, the field wiring is the monitored contact pair, up to 300 metres, with a 10K series resistor and a 10K end-of-line resistor.
Can the S4-34410 input be set to normally closed?
Yes. The input works on either normally open or normally closed contacts, and the sense is chosen in the Commissioning Tool when the channel is set as a fire, fault or supervisory input. You cannot read it back at the panel: the Device Status view under the Info menu gives a letter per channel, I for the input and U or a dot for the unused ones, but never the contact sense. Only a configuration download shows that. Short and open circuit faults are detected in every input mode.
Can I connect a conventional zone to an S4-34410?
Yes. The input can be configured for a zone of conventional detectors and manual call points. Each call point needs a 470 ohm resistor or a 3V9 zener diode in series with its normally open contacts. The zone accepts up to 2mA quiescent and 9mA in alarm at 24V nominal, with an 18V minimum, over up to 100 metres. Terminate it with the supplied end-of-line capacitor unit. Zone input is supported on all compatible Gent addressable panels, Nano included.
