Description

VEA-040-A10 carries a 3.5” colour LCD display, showing alarm state, fault state and smoke level at the unit itself. Air is drawn through microbore sampling tubes into laser detection chambers.

The detector weighs 10 kg (22.2 lbs), and cable access is by 4 x 25 mm (1”) cable entries.

VEA-040-A10 is the VESDA-E VEA-40 aspirating smoke detector fitted with a 3.5” colour LCD display alongside its status LEDs. That screen provides a range of status information including alarm and fault conditions as well as smoke level, and screens for each type of information are available using a simple navigation system.

Sensitivity covers 0.020%/m (0.006%/ft) - 16%/m (4.88%/ft), with Alert and Action giving two pre alarm levels. Two GPIs, monitored and unmonitored, are provided, and peak current reaches 3.5A (for initial 5 seconds of scanning). Capillary tubes of variable length may be run up to 100 m.

Read the full technical description

VESDA detectors and devices communicate on VESDAnet, a bi-directional communication network allowing continued redundant operation even during single point wiring failures. VESDA-E detectors also offer connectivity to corporate networks via Ethernet, so machines running Xtralis monitoring and configuration software can reach the detector. The optional Relay StaX module can be used to identify and signal fire source locations on a fire panel loop.

Blockage and breakage are watched at set intervals down to a single sampling point and a single tube, while sampling point presence and tube breakage detection also runs automatically at those intervals. Up to 20,000 events are stored in FIFO format, recording smoke level, user actions, alarms and faults with time and date stamp. Approvals cover CE, UKCA, VdS, FM and ActivFire (ISO 7240-20); approvals and regulatory compliance differ by region and by model.
