Description
The Gent 13270-04LB is a four zone Xenex conventional fire alarm panel with four detection circuits and four sounder circuits. It runs from mains power and uses two 12V sealed lead acid batteries for standby; batteries are supplied separately. Across the Xenex range, each sounder circuit has a 0.5A limit. A 7A fused spur feeds this panel, while its 24V auxiliary supply provides up to 500mA. The range has code access to alarm controls, zone test and disable functions. The case can be wall mounted or set into the wall with the optional 13270-29 flush plate. The Xenex front cover is grey.
The 13270-04LB has four detection zones and four sounder circuits. Xenex control panels use radial field circuits, with no spurs from either the detection or sounder wiring. A zone accepts up to 3mA of quiescent load and up to 20 diode bases. Detection circuits use a 22uF end-of-line capacitor after the final detector or call point; unused zones also need termination. Manual call points require a 470 ohm series resistor.

Across the Xenex control range, each sounder output is limited to 0.5A and protected by a resettable 0.75A fuse. Sounder circuits use a 10k ohm end-of-line resistor, including unused outputs, and operate together on a fire condition.
The 13270-04LB provides up to 500mA from its monitored 24V auxiliary supply. Xenex control panels have separate normally open and normally closed fire-contact sets, rated at 1A at 24V DC for a resistive load. The common fire and common fault outputs are electronic switches. The separate XEN-FFR relay unit adds a volt-free fault contact. The range also has a class-change input for a remote contact, with a maximum cable distance of 100m.
Mains power enters through a 7A fused spur. Standby requires two 12V sealed lead acid batteries of 2.1Ah to 3.4Ah each, ordered separately. Across the Xenex range, available standby time depends on the detection, alarm and auxiliary loads. The integral power supply includes a battery charger. The 13270-04LB meets EN 54-2 for control and indication and EN 54-4 for its power supply.
The Xenex enclosure measures 395mm wide, 274mm high and 87mm deep, with a grey front cover and an IP31 rating for indoor use. The 13270-04LB can be mounted on the wall or semi-flush with the separate 13270-29 plate. One 13271-08LB repeater can be connected for fire and fault indications and selected controls at a second position. Its presence is configured at the main panel. After changing stored Xenex settings, restart the panel and refit the memory protection link.
The panel is supplied with a battery link, end-of-line capacitors and resistors, labels, spare fuses and fixing screws. Batteries are supplied separately.

FAQs
Which batteries does the 13270-04LB need?
The 13270-04LB uses two 12V sealed lead acid batteries, with 2.1Ah to 3.4Ah capacity per battery. They are supplied separately from the panel. Its mains connection uses a 7A fused spur, and the internal supply includes the battery charger. Standby duration depends on the connected system loads, including any equipment taking power from the 500mA auxiliary supply. Battery capacity and the detection, sounder and auxiliary loads therefore form part of the standby calculation for this four zone panel.
How are the 13270-04LB detection and sounder circuits arranged?
This model has four detection-zone circuits and four sounder circuits. In the Xenex range, detection and sounder wiring follow radial circuits without spurs. The last detection device has a 22uF end-of-line capacitor, while the final sounder has a 10k ohm resistor. Unused circuits also need the appropriate termination at the panel. Each sounder output has a 0.5A limit. The sounder circuits operate together when the panel enters a fire condition, and detection zones accept up to 3mA quiescent load.
Does the 13270-04LB provide a volt-free fault contact?
A volt-free fault contact is added with the separate XEN-FFR unit. The 13270-04LB belongs to the Xenex control range, whose common fire and common fault outputs are electronic switches. The standard auxiliary relay contacts respond to fire and provide separate normally open and normally closed contact sets. Those fire contacts are rated at 1A at 24V DC for resistive loads. This panel also has a monitored 24V auxiliary supply rated to a maximum of 500mA for external ancillary equipment.
Can the 13270-04LB have a remote repeat indicator?
One 13271-08LB repeat indicator can be connected to the 13270-04LB. It repeats fire and fault indications and provides selected system controls at another position. The serial connection uses the R+ and R- terminals and screened two-core twisted-pair cable, with a maximum total link length of 500m. Repeater presence is set at the main control panel, followed by a power restart. The repeater has its own mains connection through a 5A fused spur and uses separately supplied standby batteries.
Can the 13270-04LB be recessed into a wall?
Yes. The 13270-04LB fits the separate 13270-29 flush plate for semi-flush installation. The required wall aperture is 378mm wide, 245mm high and 60mm deep. The panel backbox sits within that opening, with approximately 20mm between the flush shroud and the outer cover. The Xenex panel enclosure measures 395mm wide, 274mm high and 87mm deep. Surface wall mounting is also available using the panel case fixings. Xenex control-panel enclosures have an IP31 rating for indoor installation.
