Description

The Gent 13271-08LB is an eight zone Xenex repeat indicator for indoor use that shows fire and fault conditions from the main control panel. It also gives access to selected alarm controls at a second position. One repeat panel can be used per system, linked through the R+ and R- serial terminals with screened cable. The unit has its own mains feed through a 5A fused spur and takes two 12V sealed lead acid batteries, supplied separately. Its grey case can be wall mounted or recessed with the optional 13270-29 flush plate. The main panel must be set up for the repeater connection.

The 13271-08LB repeats fire and fault indications from a Xenex control panel across eight indicated zones. It also provides selected controls, including alarm sound and silence, system reset and buzzer cancellation. The keypad uses coded access. Detection-zone and sounder terminal groups are not fitted to this repeat indicator.

One repeater can be connected to the main control panel. The serial link uses R+ and R- terminals on the right side of the repeater PCB, with cable entry on that side of the enclosure. The connection requires screened two-core twisted-pair cable and has a maximum total circuit length of 500m.

The main control panel must be configured for the presence of the repeater, then powered down and restarted for that setting to take effect. No initial connection programming is needed at the repeat indicator itself. Programming work on the main panel includes restoring the memory protection link before returning the system to service.

The repeater operates from 230V AC at 50Hz, with a supply tolerance of -15% to +10%, through a 5A fused spur. Standby uses two 12V sealed lead acid batteries, each between 2.1Ah and 3.4Ah. Batteries are supplied separately. The approximate assembled weight is 5.8kg with 2.1Ah batteries or 6.2kg with 3.4Ah batteries.

The enclosure has a grey RAL 7000 front and measures 395mm wide, 274mm high and 87mm deep. It is rated IP31 for indoor use, with an operating range of 0 to 40C and up to 95% relative humidity without condensation. Surface mounting and semi-flush mounting with the optional 13270-29 plate are available. Cable entries are provided at the top and rear.

FAQs

Does the 13271-08LB add eight detection circuits?

The eight zones on the 13271-08LB are repeated indications from the main Xenex control panel. The repeater has no fitted detection-zone or sounder terminal groups. It shows fire and fault conditions and provides selected system controls at another position, including alarm sound and silence, system reset and buzzer cancellation. One repeater can be connected per system through the serial link. The main panel remains the location of the detection and sounder circuit connections for the installation.

How does the 13271-08LB connect to the main panel?

The 13271-08LB uses the R+ and R- serial terminals on the right side of its PCB. The link requires screened two-core twisted-pair cable, with a maximum total circuit length of 500m. Cable entry for that connection is on the right side of the repeater enclosure. Only one repeater can be connected to the Xenex main panel. The repeater also needs its own mains connection through a 5A fused spur and two separately supplied 12V standby batteries.

Where is the 13271-08LB connection configured?

Repeater presence is configured at the main Xenex control panel. The main panel must then be powered down and restarted for the change to take effect. The 13271-08LB does not need separate initial connection programming at the repeater. Memory protection at the main panel is restored after programming. This setup establishes the single supported repeater connection, allowing the 13271-08LB to duplicate the main panel fire and fault indications and provide the selected system controls at its installed position.

Are batteries included with the 13271-08LB?

Batteries are supplied separately. The 13271-08LB uses two 12V sealed lead acid batteries, each with a capacity from 2.1Ah to 3.4Ah. Its mains supply is 230V AC at 50Hz through a 5A fused spur. The assembled repeater weighs approximately 5.8kg when fitted with 2.1Ah batteries, or 6.2kg with 3.4Ah batteries. Those weights include the batteries. The case measures 395mm wide, 274mm high and 87mm deep and has top and rear cable entries.

Can the 13271-08LB be fitted semi-flush?

The 13271-08LB fits the optional 13270-29 flush plate. Semi-flush installation uses a wall opening 378mm wide, 245mm high and 60mm deep, leaving approximately 20mm between the flush shroud and the panel outer cover. Surface wall mounting is also available. The repeater enclosure is rated IP31 for indoor use and has a grey RAL 7000 front. Its operating limits are 0 to 40C and up to 95% relative humidity without condensation, with mains and standby battery power.
