Description

The Gent 800171 is an ES Detect fixed heat detector for conventional fire alarm systems. Its semiconductor sensor responds to heat, with an A1S heat classification and an application range of -20°C to +50°C. It has an alarm indicator, automatically checks its own function and stores alarm and operating data. The head runs from 8 to 42V DC and takes 25µA at rest at 9V DC. It fits a separate detector base, with the 805590-D providing the diode base option. A 781814 remote LED can show the alarm away from the head. The white ABS detector is 117mm across and 49mm high without its base.

The 800171 uses a semiconductor sensor for fixed-temperature heat detection. Its A1S classification is to EN 54-5:2000 + A1:2002. The application temperature range is -20°C to +50°C.

Read the full technical description

The 800171 uses a semiconductor sensor for fixed-temperature heat detection. Its A1S classification is to EN 54-5:2000 + A1:2002. The application temperature range is -20°C to +50°C.

The head operates from 8 to 42V DC through its detector base on the conventional zone circuit. Quiescent current is 25µA at 9V DC and alarm current is 9mA at 9V DC. It checks its own function, provides local alarm indication and stores alarm and operating data.

The detector is supplied without a base. The 805590 is the standard base and the 805590-D is the diode base. With the 805590-D, a 781814 remote LED connects at the base to repeat the alarm at another position. The diode base maintains zone continuity when a detector head is removed.

The white ABS head measures 117mm in diameter and 49mm high, rising to 62mm including its base. Storage temperature is -25°C to +75°C and the air velocity range is 0 to 25.4m/s. A black ring on the light pipe identifies it as a heat detector.

The ES Detect range connects to Xenex conventional panels and to conventional zones on the S4-34410 or channel 1 of the S4-34450 in a Vigilon system. Mains interface applications use S4-34440-02 or S4-34440-12 units manufactured after 25 May 2017.

FAQs

How does the 800171 differ from the other ES Detect heat heads?

The 800171 is the fixed-temperature A1S model, with an application range of -20°C to +50°C. The 800177 is the Class BS fixed heat model for applications up to +65°C. The 800271 has an A1R classification and responds to a rapid rise in temperature as well as providing a fixed-temperature function. All three fit the 805590-D base. The 800171 includes local alarm indication, an automatic function check and storage for alarm and operating data.

Which base does the 800171 use?

The 800171 is supplied as a detector head without a base. It fits the 805590 standard base and the 805590-D diode base. The diode base maintains the zone circuit through the mounting point when the head is removed. It also provides the connection for a 781814 remote alarm LED. With its base, the detector is 62mm high and 117mm in diameter. On a Xenex zone, the circuit limit is up to 20 diode bases.

Can the 800171 have a remote alarm indicator?

Yes. A 781814 remote LED can repeat the 800171 alarm at a separate position. With the 805590-D base, the indicator connects through two wires: X1 positive goes to LED EP6 and X1 negative goes to EM2. The detector also retains its own local alarm indication. The remote unit has a red lens and three red LEDs, while the detector and its base remain on the conventional zone circuit. Remote indication is an optional accessory to the detector installation.

How is the 800171 powered and what current does it draw?

The 800171 takes its supply through its base from the conventional detection zone. Its operating range is 8 to 42V DC. At 9V DC, the head draws 25µA in its quiescent state and 9mA in alarm. These are the detector head currents at that voltage. The base provides the zone connections and can also connect a 781814 remote alarm LED. The detector includes an automatic function check, a local alarm indicator and storage for alarm and operating data.

Which Gent systems support the ES Detect range that includes the 800171?

The ES Detect range, including the 800171, connects to Xenex conventional panels. On Vigilon systems, conventional zones can connect through the S4-34410 or channel 1 of the S4-34450. The S4-34440-02 and S4-34440-12 mains interfaces support ES Detect with manufacture dates after 25 May 2017. The detector fits its own conventional base on that zone circuit. The 805590-D is the diode base option, and the 781814 is the optional remote alarm indicator connected through the base.
