Xtralis VHX-0320 VESDA Access HLI Standard

The VHX-0320 is the Xtralis VESDA Access High Level Interface, supplied as the standard unit for installations where permanent mounting of the interface is not needed. It gives third-party monitoring equipment a route into VESDA aspirating detection, letting a Building Management System or Fire Alarm Control Panel supervise every VESDA device sitting on a VESDAnet network. Connection onto that network is made through a VRT-300 VESDAnet socket interface, and a single HLI can carry up to 100 detectors.

Compatibility spans the VESDA VLP, VLS, VLC, VLF and VLI detector ranges together with the VESDA-E VEP, VEP 1P and VEU units, though not the VES, and Mimic Mode is available for the VLP, VLC and VLS. Across these devices the interface reports alarm and fault status, smoke level, detailed fault information and alarm thresholds, and can issue detector commands such as reset, disable and silence. It talks to host equipment over RS-232 or RS-485, while the VESDAnet side runs a proprietary fault-tolerant bi-directional protocol. Xtralis configuration and monitoring software packages are used to set the unit up. The interface is generally recommended for secondary monitoring of fire alarms and other VESDAnet notifications, and can also serve primary reporting to the fire panel where the HLI is integrated and suitably approved.
