Description
The VLI detector's Intelligent Filter reduces the level of pollution in the air sample before it enters the detection chamber, which dramatically extends the operational life of the detector in harsh and polluted environments, and the filtration train adds a lint trap, sub-sampling probe and secondary filter. Five (5) high intensity status LEDs give greater visibility, and the external housing has a rubberized finish.
An event log holds up to 18,000 events in FIFO format, recording smoke level, user actions, alarms and faults with time and date stamp. Approvals are FM, ActivFire, CE, UKCA, LPCB, NF, SIL 2 as per IEC 61508 and EN 54-20, though regional approvals and regulatory compliance vary between product models. Remote indication is available through the VRT-Q00 VESDA VLI Remote Display with 7 relays or the VRT-T00 VESDA VLI Remote Display with no relays.

VLI-880 is the VESDA VLI, an early warning Aspirating Smoke Detection system built to protect industrial applications and harsh environments of up to 2,000 m2 (21,520 sq. ft.). The detector combines a fail-safe Intelligent Filter with an advanced clean-air barrier for optics protection, which allows absolute detection and a long detection chamber life without the need for re-calibration.
It runs from 18-30 VDC, consuming 10 W quiescent and 10.5 W with alarm (max), or 415 mA quiescent and 440 mA with alarm (max), behind a 1.6 A fuse. The IP66-rated enclosure keeps out dust and strong water jets from all directions, measures 426.5 mm x 316.5 mm x 180 mm (16.8 in x 12.5 in x 7.1 in) and weighs 6.035 kg (13.3 lbs). Sensitivity spans 0.005% - 20.0% obs/m (0.0015% - 6.25% obs/ft), and five relays rated 2 A @ 30 VDC cover Fire (NO), Fault (NC) and Configurable (NO).
Pipework can run to a Total Pipe Length of 360 m (1181 ft) with a Maximum Single Pipe Length of 120 m (394 ft) across up to 4 inlet pipes, and the enclosure carries 4 x 25 mm (1”) cable entries. Under EN 54-20 the detector classifies as Class A (24 holes / Alert = 0.06% obs/m), Class B (28 holes / Fire-1 = 0.15% obs/m) and Class C (60 holes / Fire-1 = 0.15% obs/m), with the classification of any configuration determined using ASPIRE.
