Description
The Gent S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR combines heat detection with a voice sounder, a High Power red VAD and heat self-test. A thermistor measures temperature and is warmed during testing to check its response. The panel applies the selected heat class, with A1 as the default. The voice sounder gives an attention tone followed by a stored message, and the VAD provides a red flash. This white head takes power from the loop and fits an S4-700 base with an S4-705 IP21C plate. It belongs to the S-Quad Self-Test range for Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus. Testing is run through the CLSS app with a gateway and an active Self-Test licence.
The S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR combines heat detection with a voice sounder and a High Power red VAD. A thermistor provides heat sensing, with the alarm response determined by the state selected at the panel. State 0 selects A1 heat detection and is the factory default. The other choices are state 5 for B, state 6 for BS, state 7 for A2S and state 13 for A2. The BS setting has no rate-of-rise component.

Heat self-test warms the thermistor. During the heating period, the detector sends analogue readings to the control panel, which checks the change in response over time. This model has heat sensing only. It does not detect smoke or carry out an optical self-test.
The voice sounder stores four default English messages and a bell tone. The messages cover emergency evacuation, waiting for further instructions, a system test and fire evacuation. An attention tone precedes the spoken message. The S4T speech function holds up to 20 seconds of audio; its normal 10-second signal period can be extended to 30 seconds. The stored messages can be reprogrammed. The High Power red VAD is ceiling mounted. Its category C coverage is C-3-14 at High Power, C-3-13 at Medium Power and C-3-10 at Low Power, corresponding to 461.8, 398.1 and 235.6 cubic metres. These coverage settings require compliant operation and a two-second flash period; High and Medium Power require an Enhanced Loop Card. Position the combined detector and VAD to meet both detection and visual-warning needs. Across the S4T range, outputs in the same sector synchronise across the loops of one panel. Synchronisation does not extend across a network of panels.
The head fits an S4-700 base with an S4-705 IP21C plate, mounted on a metal back box. Use screened two-core fire-rated loop cable with conductors from 1.5 to 2.5 mm² and maintain earth continuity. Supplied with one detector head and one orange dust cover. The cover protects the detector during building work and must be removed before commissioning. The S4T range has IP21C housings measuring 117 mm in diameter and 63 mm high, increasing to 70 mm with the standard base.
The S-Quad Self-Test range operates on Vigilon Plus and Compact Plus systems with compatible firmware, SD-card MCC or MCB hardware and a VIGPLUS-LPC-EN loop card. Self-test requires a CLSS gateway for each network domain, the CLSS mobile app and an active Self-Test licence. Run testing with the panel in Service mode. Configure the system with Vigilon Commissioning Tool V1.40 or later, and calculate the loop load and standby requirement with the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator.

FAQs
Does the S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR detect smoke?
No. The S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR uses a heat sensing thermistor and combines it with a voice sounder and a High Power red VAD. There is no optical smoke sensor in this model. Its default heat class is A1, with A2, A2S, B and BS also selectable at the panel. The self-test warms the heat element to verify its response. The S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR is the separate model that combines dual optical and heat sensing with voice and a red VAD.
What does self-test do on the S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR?
The S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR heat self-test warms the thermistor and sends analogue readings to the panel, which checks the change in response over time. This tests the heat element used for fire detection. The model has no optical sensing channel, so there is no smoke sensor self-test. Its voice, sounder and VAD circuits are monitored for faults. Sensor testing is run through the CLSS app with an active Self-Test licence, a gateway connection and the panel in Service mode.
What messages does the S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR play?
The S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR carries four default English spoken messages and a bell tone. Its announcements cover emergency evacuation, waiting for instructions, a system test and fire evacuation. Speech follows an attention tone. The S4T speech function stores up to 20 seconds of audio, and its normal 10-second signal period can be configured up to 30 seconds. Messages can be reprogrammed. This model combines the voice function and a High Power red VAD with heat-only detection in the same head.
What red VAD coverage does the S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR offer?
The S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR has category C-3-14 at High Power, covering 461.8 cubic metres. Medium Power gives C-3-13 and 398.1 cubic metres, while Low Power gives C-3-10 and 235.6 cubic metres. These settings require compliant operation with a two-second flash period. High and Medium Power require an Enhanced Loop Card. The VAD is ceiling mounted. Its position must suit visual warning as well as heat detection, including the heat detector restriction against locations above boilers or heaters.
What installation does the S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR require?
The S4T-720-V-VAD-HPR fits an S4-700 base with an S4-705 IP21C plate on a metal back box and takes its power from the loop. Self-Test operation needs a compatible Vigilon Plus or Compact Plus system with a VIGPLUS-LPC-EN loop card, plus CLSS gateway, app and licence. Mount the VAD on a flat ceiling surface. Size the loop using the Battery Standby and Loop Load Calculator, including the selected VAD power and sounder mode. The supplied dust cover must be removed before the system is commissioned.
