Description

The Honeywell HON-CGW-MBB is a fixed CLSS gateway that links a compatible fire alarm panel to the cloud through Ethernet or Wi-Fi. It comes with an enclosure for wall mounting in a dry indoor location. The CLSS gateway range sends panel data to the cloud for remote monitoring and maintenance. Panel connections include RS-232 for Morley DXc and Gent Compact, with an I/O card route for Gent Vigilon. The panel model sets the connection method and power arrangement. A separate GSM module adds the cellular connection. Local setup uses a computer on the second Ethernet port, while Bluetooth supports mobile pairing.

HON-CGW-MBB combines the CLSS gateway board and its enclosure for fixed installation. In the CLSS system, the gateway carries panel inventory and event data between a compatible fire alarm system and the cloud. The CLSS software supports remote monitoring, maintenance activities and reports.

HON-CGW-MBB combines the CLSS gateway board and its enclosure for fixed installation. In the CLSS system, the gateway carries panel inventory and event data between a compatible fire alarm system and the cloud. The CLSS software supports remote monitoring, maintenance activities and reports.

The primary Ethernet connection, Eth1 at J4, connects the gateway to CLSS services. Eth0 at J3 provides the local computer connection for configuration. The panel connection uses the interface appropriate to its model. Gent COMPACT-24-N and COMPACT-PLUS use RS-232 at 19200 baud for fixed installations. Gent VIGPLUS-24, VIGPLUS-72, VIG1-24 and VIG1-72 support a UART/TTL connection or an RS-232 connection through a VIG-IOC-DOM I/O card.

Morley DXc connects through its 795-122 serial communication card using RS-232. The gateway needs firmware 3.0.2.30 or later for this connection. On a DXc network, connect the gateway at the master panel. The panel interface and the gateway’s Ethernet or Wi-Fi cloud connection serve different parts of the data route.

The CLSS gateway range accepts an 18-30V DC supply and operates between 0°C and 49°C. External power connects to the gateway’s 24V DC input. Set S7 to NUP_OUT when using the power supply port, or NUP_IN when power enters through the NUP connector. Mount the fixed enclosure indoors in a dry location, with at least 30cm separation from the panel; the recommended position is within 1m of the connected panel or network card. The enclosure assembly measures 260mm high, 203.7mm wide and 70mm deep, and weighs 861.8g.

Initial commissioning includes registering the gateway’s ownership code with the CLSS account and uploading the panel topology. For local computer configuration, connect to Eth0 and hold S6 for at least six seconds. Bluetooth supports pairing with a mobile device. For Gent inventory import, the BACnet Import Generator creates the BacnetImport.dat file from the panel configuration.

FAQs

Which Gent panels can connect to HON-CGW-MBB?

Compatible Gent models include COMPACT-24-N, COMPACT-PLUS, VIGPLUS-24, VIGPLUS-72, VIG1-24 and VIG1-72. For a fixed Compact installation, the panel uses RS-232 at 19200 baud. The Vigilon models can use UART/TTL, or RS-232 through a VIG-IOC-DOM I/O card. The gateway then connects to CLSS through its network connection. The panel interface carries the fire system data; Ethernet or Wi-Fi provides the connection between the gateway and the cloud. These are separate connections within the installation.

How does HON-CGW-MBB connect to Morley DXc?

Morley DXc uses an RS-232 connection through the panel’s 795-122 serial communication card. The gateway needs firmware 3.0.2.30 or later to support that panel connection. In a network of DXc panels, the gateway connects at the master panel. At the panel’s SK1 terminal, the white wire goes to RxD+, the green wire to Gnd and the brown wire to TxD+. The gateway’s cloud connection is separate from this serial connection to the fire alarm panel.

What power supply does the gateway need?

The CLSS gateway range accepts 18-30V DC. For external power, use the gateway’s 24V DC input and set S7 to NUP_OUT when the supply connects through its power supply port. With a compatible supply through the NUP connector, use NUP_IN. The HW-AV-ENC2-PS supply for CLSS Pathway has a 12V output and is unsuitable for this gateway connection. The panel model determines whether panel power is available or a dedicated external supply is used for the gateway.

What is involved in setting up the fixed gateway?

Initial setup links the gateway to the CLSS account and imports the panel’s topology so that the connected system can be represented in CLSS. Register the gateway’s ownership code during installation. For local computer configuration, use the Eth0 Ethernet port and hold S6 for at least six seconds to enable configuration mode. Eth1 provides the connection to CLSS services. Bluetooth supports mobile pairing. For Gent panels, the BACnet Import Generator produces the inventory file from the panel configuration.

Where is HON-CGW-MBB mounted?

The fixed gateway is wall mounted indoors in a dry location. Keep at least 30cm between the gateway and the fire alarm panel; the recommended mounting position is within 1m of the connected panel or network card. The assembled gateway measures 260mm high, 203.7mm wide and 70mm deep, and weighs 861.8g with its enclosure. The CLSS gateway range operates from 0°C to 49°C. HON-CGW-MBB supplies the gateway board together with the enclosure for this fixed installation.
