Description
The Gent S4-34760 duct housing brings air from a ventilation duct to an S-Quad smoke detector on a Vigilon loop. It comes with a sensor base and a 0.6 m Venturi tube; the detector is separate. The housing fits outside the duct, with its arrow aligned to the air flow. Its clear cover gives a view of the fitted detector's alarm LED and the moving air flow strip. A sealed test opening allows test gas into the chamber. The grey ABS housing is rated IP54. The housing measures 180 by 235 by 183 mm. Longer tubes suit larger ducts, and a mounting bracket is required for round or insulated ductwork.
The S4-34760 holds the detector outside the ventilation duct. Air enters through the Venturi tube and passes through the housing to the detector. The kit includes an S-Quad base and a 0.6 m tube. The S4-715 optical sensor fits the base and is supplied separately. Once fitted, the detector receives power from the Vigilon loop and sends alarm and fault information to the control panel.

The housing can sit on the top, side or underside of the duct. Its arrow must follow the direction of air flow, and the tube must lie centrally across the duct. Direct mounting uses three long screws through the designated fixing holes. Circular or insulated ducts require the S4-34760-99 bracket, which bends to the duct shape.
The 0.6 m tube serves duct diameters from 140 to 600 mm and is trimmed for an immersion depth of 90% of the duct diameter. Larger ducts use the 1.5 m S4-34760-15 or 2.8 m S4-34760-28. Those longer tubes pass through the opposite wall for support. Their fitting must allow for the mounting bracket's spacing where one is used.
The grey ABS housing has a transparent cover and an IP54 rating. Its dimensions are 180 mm wide, 235 mm high and 183 mm deep. Housing weight is approximately 800 g, excluding the detector and base. The housing air velocity range is 1 to 20 m/s, with an ambient temperature range of -10 to +60°C and a storage range of -15 to +65°C.
The clear cover shows the fitted detector's flashing red alarm LED and the film strip that moves when air flows through the chamber. A service opening provides access for test gas. During maintenance, place the relevant detector zone in test mode at the panel and take measures to prevent unwanted alarms. Reseal the service opening after testing and engage the cover fully.

FAQs
What comes with the S4-34760 duct housing?
The S4-34760 includes the duct housing, an S-Quad sensor base and a 0.6 m Venturi tube. The detector is supplied separately; the S4-715 optical sensor fits the base. The housing fixes to the outside of the duct, with the tube extending into the air stream. For circular or insulated ductwork, the installation also needs the S4-34760-99 mounting bracket. Larger duct diameters use one of the longer Venturi tubes in place of the short tube.
Which tube length suits the S4-34760 installation?
The included 0.6 m tube suits duct diameters from 140 to 600 mm. Trim this short tube so that it reaches 90% of the duct diameter. For diameters from 600 to 1400 mm, use the 1.5 m S4-34760-15; for 1400 to 2700 mm, use the 2.8 m S4-34760-28. Both longer options need support at the opposite duct wall. Allow for any mounting bracket spacing when setting the tube length and cap the tube's end.
Where can the S4-34760 housing be mounted?
The housing mounts outside the duct and can be positioned on its top, side or underside. Align the housing arrow with the air flow and place the tube centrally across the duct. Direct mounting uses the three designated fixing holes and the supplied long screws. On a circular or insulated duct, use the S4-34760-99 bracket. This bracket bends to the duct shape and provides the mounting arrangement for the housing above the tube entry.
What can I see through the S4-34760 cover?
The transparent cover gives a view of the fitted detector's red alarm LED and the airflow indicator inside the housing. The detector LED flashes during an alarm, while the film strip moves when duct air flows past the Venturi tube and through the chamber. The strip's movement varies with the airflow speed. The fitted S4-715 also sends alarm and fault information through the Vigilon loop, so those detector states appear at the connected control panel.
How is the detector tested in the S4-34760 housing?
Test gas enters the chamber through the sealable service opening in the cover. Before maintenance, place the relevant detector zone in test mode at the panel and take measures to prevent unwanted alarms. Open the service seal, apply test gas through the opening and observe the fitted detector's red alarm LED and the panel indication. Close the service opening again after testing. The cover must engage fully at its fixing points to maintain the housing's protection.
