Description

The Gent COMPACT-LPC is an additional loop card for the COMPACT-24-N addressable fire alarm panel, and also fits Vigilon Compact and Compact VA panels. It supports loops with 3400, 34000 and pre-VAD S-Quad devices, with a maximum cable length of 1 km including spurs. It serves as a replacement for the same build of Compact loop card. It must not replace a COMPACT-LPC-EN on a loop longer than 1 km or one using compliant Part 23 devices. Loop loading depends on the devices fitted and their operating settings. The Loop Diagnostic Tool does not work with panels fitted with this card.

The COMPACT-LPC is the earlier Compact loop card for Vigilon Compact and Compact VA fire alarm panels, including the COMPACT-24-N. It supports 3400 and 34000 devices, pre-VAD S-Quad devices and earlier S3 sounders and strobes. Within the Compact panel, the loop card fits on the master control board, which carries the terminals for the external loop wiring.

The maximum cable length is 1 km for the main loop and all spurs carrying devices combined. Loop loading depends on the quantity and type of devices, with sounder operating settings affecting the load calculation. For these legacy loop systems, the Battery Standby Calculator provides the precise loop-load and standby calculation.

As a replacement, COMPACT-LPC is for the same build of Compact loop card. It must not replace COMPACT-LPC-EN on a loop longer than 1 km or a loop using compliant Part 23 devices. A change in the other direction to COMPACT-LPC-EN is conditional: the loop must have a supported mix of S4, earlier S3 or compatible 34000 devices, with no 3400 devices and no 34450 four-channel interface.

The Loop Diagnostic Tool cannot diagnose a panel fitted with COMPACT-LPC. Card and panel firmware affect the supported device mix.

That replacement must not be made on loops containing 3400 devices or the 34450 four-channel interface. COMPACT-LPC itself is a replacement for the same card build. It must not replace a newer -EN card on a loop longer than 1 km or one using compliant Part 23 devices. The replacement choice therefore depends on the installed loop.
