FAQs
Is the VIG-NC a copper or fibre network card?
VIG-NC is the copper network card for VIGPLUS-24, VIGPLUS-72 and the Vigilon Plus Network node. It carries data on a secure loop of up to 31 control panels and nodes. Copper cable distances can reach 1.2 km between units, depending on cable type. VIG-NC-FO is the multimode fibre card, while VIG-NC-SMF uses single-mode fibre. VIG-NC fits a dedicated backplane slot and uses DIL switches to select its node address and baud rate. The host requires local controller software V4.00 or later.
How far can a VIG-NC copper network connection run?
A copper connection can run up to 1.2 km between control panels or network nodes, depending on cable type. Belden 9729 is a suitable example of network cable. The secure network loop supports up to 31 panels and nodes in total. External copper wiring connects to terminals on the host backplane; in the P8 card arrangement, these are at P10. Copper connections differ between backplanes made after August 2006 and earlier versions, so wiring depends on the host backplane.
Where does the VIG-NC fit in the panel?
VIG-NC fits a dedicated slot on the panel or network node backplane. In the P8 arrangement, external copper wiring connects at terminal block P10. Copper connections differ between backplanes made after August 2006 and earlier versions. The card fits VIGPLUS-24, VIGPLUS-72 and the Vigilon Plus Network node. Its host requires local controller software at version 4.00 or later. DIL switches on the card select the node address and communication speed, with factory settings of address 4 and 38.4K baud.
What software and baud settings does VIG-NC require?
The panel or node requires local controller software at version 4.00 or later. DIL switches on VIG-NC select its node address and baud rate. Available speeds are 2400, 9600, 19.2K and 38.4K, with factory settings of node address 4 and 38.4K baud. The card carries data over a secure copper network loop of up to 31 control panels and nodes. Cable distances can reach 1.2 km between units, depending on cable type, and the RS485 network interface operates at ±5V.
What are the VIG-NC dimensions and environmental limits?
The VIG-NC copper card measures 128 mm high by 100 mm wide and weighs approximately 72 g. Its operating temperature is 0°C to 45°C, with storage from -10°C to 55°C and relative humidity up to 90%, non-condensing. It fits a dedicated backplane slot in VIGPLUS-24, VIGPLUS-72 or a Vigilon Plus Network node. External copper wiring connects to the host backplane terminals. The card requires local controller software at version 4.00 or later and has selectable node-address and baud-rate settings.
