Description
The Gent VIG-IOC-DOM is an input/output card for VIGPLUS-24 and VIGPLUS-72 fire panels and Vigilon network nodes. It provides RS232 and RS485 serial links, with both ports available at the same time. The main I/O position is Card 15 in socket P2, where RS232 is Port 0 and RS485 is Port 1. A rotary switch selects the required task, with full duplex domain bridging set at the factory. For an extra I/O card, its DIP switches set the baud rate and node address. Supplied as one input/output card. The switch and ribbon cable arrangements depend on the host panel and card position.
VIG-IOC-DOM provides serial communication for an EN54 Vigilon panel or network node. On a VIGPLUS-24 or VIGPLUS-72 installation it is the input/output card option. Its RS232 and RS485 ports can be used simultaneously. In the main Card 15 position at socket P2, RS232 is Port 0 and RS485 is Port 1, with the external connections made at the terminal card.

Before fitting the main card at P2, set every SW1 DIP switch to Off. In this position the panel uses the switches on its display keyboard card to set the node address and baud rate. The 20-way display cable connects to the main control card on current systems. The alternative connection to the I/O card applies to the legacy arrangement using an LCC.
An unused P7 socket on the panel accepts one additional I/O card. For an additional card, set SW1 for the required baud rate and node address before fitting it. The available baud settings are 1200, 1800, 2400, 3600, 4800, 7200, 9600 and 19200. The additional-card DIP switches work without a dongle.
SW2 selects the serial function. Position 5 is the factory setting for full duplex domain bridging. Other RS232 selections include remote printer, universal full duplex, Ascom pager and universal half duplex. A D1 serial link uses position 0. Select the function for the actual connected equipment and check the host panel's connection plan when setting the cable route.
The card measures 148mm high by 100mm wide and weighs approximately 72g. Its operating temperature is 0°C to +45°C, storage temperature is -10°C to +55°C, and relative humidity is up to 90%, non-condensing. The RS485 cable distance is 1.2km. Supplied as one VIG-IOC-DOM input/output card.

FAQs
Where does the VIG-IOC-DOM fit in a Vigilon Plus panel?
The main I/O card fits Card 15 at socket P2 on the control-panel backplane. VIG-IOC-DOM fits VIGPLUS-24 and VIGPLUS-72 panels and the Vigilon network node. An additional panel card fits the spare P7 socket. Check the panel layout and the intended role before fitting it, because a card in the main position uses different switch settings from an additional card. The external serial wiring must follow that host panel's terminal plan.
Can the RS232 and RS485 ports be used at the same time?
The VIG-IOC-DOM's RS232 and RS485 ports are available for simultaneous use. With the card in the main P2 position, RS232 is Port 0 and RS485 is Port 1. The connections are made at the terminal card, and the rotary switch selects the required function. The RS485 cable distance is 1.2km. Check the selected application and the host panel connection plan when specifying the cable route and setting up the ports.
How are the main and additional I/O cards configured?
For the main card at P2, all SW1 DIP switches are set to Off, allowing the panel's display keyboard switches to provide the address and baud settings. An additional VIG-IOC-DOM instead uses its own SW1 switches for those settings. Its address range is 1 to 31, and its eight baud choices run from 1200 to 19200. The additional-card DIP switches work without a dongle. Set the rotary function switch to suit the intended serial application as well.
Which setting is used for domain bridging?
SW2 position 5 selects full duplex domain bridging and is the VIG-IOC-DOM factory setting. The same rotary switch also provides settings for other serial duties, including a remote printer, universal full duplex, an Ascom pager and universal half duplex. A D1 serial link specifically uses position 0. The setting therefore needs to match the intended connection. For an additional I/O card, set its baud rate and node address before fitting it, alongside the rotary switch selection for the required function.
Where should the 20-way display ribbon cable connect?
On current systems the 20-way display ribbon cable connects to the main control card, or MCC. In the legacy arrangement using an LCC, the ribbon cable connects to the I/O card. The main VIG-IOC-DOM occupies Card 15 at socket P2, with all SW1 DIP switches set to Off. In that position, the panel's display keyboard switches set the node address and baud rate. RS232 is Port 0 and RS485 is Port 1, with external connections at the terminal card.
