Description
The Gent COMPACT-NODE is the Compact Plus terminal node for Vigilon fire panel networks. It gives staff a central point to view system events and use the network controls. A copper network card is supplied for CARD 2; CARD 1 and the detector loop terminals are unused. The backlit screen shows eight lines of text, with front buttons to scroll fire messages. Its integral power supply runs from the mains, with battery standby if the mains supply fails. The black case can be surface or semi-flush mounted. Order two 4015-514-YFR 12V 12Ah batteries with the node, as batteries are supplied separately.
The COMPACT-NODE provides a central point for information and control on a Vigilon network. A secure copper network can include up to 31 Compact Plus panels and network nodes in total, with a network card fitted in each unit. The maximum distance between adjacent units is up to 1.2 km where the selected approved cable supports that distance. The network is connected as a loop, so the node is part of that network circuit.

One copper network card is supplied and fits CARD 2. CARD 1 is unused, and the LOOP 1 and LOOP 2 terminals are also unused on this node. The backlit LCD has eight lines of 40 characters. Next and Previous buttons on the outer door let the user scroll through fire messages when more than one fire is displayed. There is also SD card provision for configuration and event logs.
Two master alarm circuits each provide 24 V nominal at up to 250 mA. Auxiliary relay 1 has two sets of changeover contacts, while auxiliary relay 2 has one set; these contacts are rated 1 A at 24 V DC. The auxiliary relays can be configured for fire, fault or disablement events, with a delay of up to 10 minutes. A separate voltage-free changeover contact operates with the master alarms. The normally open monitored input triggers command build 250 and is monitored for open and short circuit faults.
The integral power supply uses a 230 V mains input, with a tolerance of -15% to +10%, at 50/60 Hz; the input current is 0.6 A. Battery standby requires two separately ordered 4015-514-YFR Power Sonic Flame Retardant 12 V 12 Ah batteries. The standby provision is 24 hours followed by 30 minutes in alarm, subject to the installed load. Batteries are not included with the node.
The black IP31 node measures 403 mm high by 338 mm wide by 101 mm deep and weighs approximately 8.6 kg without batteries. It can be surface mounted or semi-flush mounted using the optional COMPACT-FLUSH surround, with cables entering from the top or rear. USB Port 3 connects the commissioning tool, RS232 Ports 1 and 2 provide external serial-printer connections, and RS485 Port 0 connects repeat indicators. The operating temperature range is 0 to +45 C.

FAQs
What does the COMPACT-NODE do on a Vigilon network?
It provides a central point for viewing information and using controls on the networked fire system. Its backlit display has eight lines of 40 characters, and the Next and Previous buttons on the front door let you scroll fire messages when several fires are shown. The node connects into the secure copper network through its supplied network card. The network can contain up to 31 Compact Plus panels and network nodes in total.
Do I need to order a network card or a loop card with it?
One copper network card is supplied with the COMPACT-NODE, so that card does not need to be added for the node itself. It fits CARD 2. CARD 1 and the LOOP 1 and LOOP 2 terminals are unused on the network node, so a detector loop card is not an addition for this unit. Each other panel or node on the copper network needs its own network card, which must be included when specifying the wider system.
Which batteries are required, and are they included?
Order two 4015-514-YFR Power Sonic Flame Retardant batteries, each rated 12 V 12 Ah. They are required for standby and are not included with the COMPACT-NODE. The node has its own integral mains power supply and uses the batteries for standby when mains power fails. Its standby provision is 24 hours followed by 30 minutes in alarm, subject to the installed load. The mains input is 230 V, with an input current of 0.6 A.
How far apart can the panels and nodes be installed?
The copper network permits up to 1.2 km between adjacent units when the selected approved cable supports that distance. Check the network cable choice against the intended run, since the maximum is dependent on cable type. The overall network limit is 31 panels and nodes together, so the COMPACT-NODE counts within that total. Each unit needs a network card, and the units are connected in a secure loop. Plan the cable runs around that loop arrangement.
What should I allow for when mounting and connecting the node?
Allow for a node 403 mm high, 338 mm wide and 101 mm deep, weighing approximately 8.6 kg before the batteries are fitted. Surface mounting is supported; add the COMPACT-FLUSH surround for semi-flush mounting. Cable entries are provided at the top and rear. Alongside the copper network connection, the node has USB Port 3 for the commissioning tool, two RS232 ports for external serial-printer connections and RS485 Port 0 for repeat indicators. Its operating range is 0 to +45 C.
