Overview
What it is and how it fits the system.
The board is fitted as a replacement Master Control Board into an existing Vigilon Compact Plus panel. Firmware sits in socket IC3, while the backup configuration chip is extracted from IC16 (NVM) on the board coming out and fitted to the replacement. Hardware link P13 enables or disables NVM Protect; when it is disabled in hardware, the protection can also be switched at the panel through the Protect option under the Setup menu.
Commissioning tool support runs either way: the system configuration is retrieved and saved at the commissioning tool before the panel is powered down, and where the configuration chip is corrupt or incompatible the last saved system configuration is transmitted back to the fitted board once the panel has powered up. An insulation sleeve or disk over the top battery connector isolates the lithium battery, and it has to be taken off before the system is powered up. At the end of its useful life the product should be disposed of via a suitable recycling centre under the WEEE Directive. Removal of the cover exposes live parts.

Technical overview
VCS-MCB-PLUS is the Master Control Board for a Vigilon Compact Plus panel, a replacement board fitted into an existing Vigilon Compact Plus panel and carrying that panel's loop and network card positions. It accommodates two Loop Cards: one goes into the slot labelled CARD1, and the second into socket CARD2 of the board or, where one is used, into the socket on the Network Card.
A Network Card can ONLY be fitted in the CARD 2 slot and is only used in a networked system; when it is present the second Loop card sits on the Network card, a spade tab goes under the PCB fixing screw, and the earth lead connects to spade tabs on both boards. The panel Power Supply Unit lands on the POWER SUPPLY connector, and the keyboard, indicators and display connections and a printer connection are all carried on the board.
Rotary switch SW2 MODE is set to match the firmware of the board being replaced: 0 for 2211-148, 1 for 2211-146, 2 for 2211-136, 3 for 2211-127, 4 for 2211-180 and 6 for 2211-192, with position 6 also used for a Vigilon Plus Repeat panel. SW1 provides reset. Removal of the cover exposes live parts.
