The Gent S3-S-R is a red bodied wall tone sounder in the S-Cubed Mark 3 range, for Gent Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano addressable systems. The indoor S-Cubed range is rated IP 21 for internal walls. Tone and volume can be set with the commissioning tool or S3-CONTROL infrared remote. The matching S3-BASE-SR shallow base is optional. The S3-S-R is the red bodied tone sounder in Gent's S-Cubed Mark 3 range. It is loop powered and compatible with Gent Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano systems. It provides tone alarms without spoken messages.
S-Cubed sounders provide three LPCB approved signals: an intermittent 970Hz tone at 1Hz, alternating 730Hz and 970Hz tones at 2Hz, and a continuous 970Hz tone. Each tone frequency has a tolerance of +/-10%. The range sounder rating is 103dB(A) +/-3dB, measured at 90 degrees and 1m.
The indoor S-Cubed range uses a 35V to 48V loop supply and loop in/out terminals 01, L1, 02 and L2; the loop screen connects to the metal box earth. The S3-S-R has an integral short circuit isolator meeting EN 54-17. The indoor range is rated IP 21 for internal wall positions. Its body is polycarbonate and the base is ABS. The indoor S-Cubed range has a 112mm square face and projects 90mm on the standard base or 75mm on an optional shallow base. The S3-BASE-SR shallow base matches this red body and comes in packs of five. Allow at least 10cm below the ceiling when fitting a shallow base so that the locking screw remains accessible. Keep the TOP mark facing upwards and the cable tails within 10cm. The base must remain surface mounted and the enclosure unpainted.
Vigilon commissioning uses the Vigilon Commissioning Tool V1.30 or later. For S-Cubed sounders, the S3-CONTROL infrared remote selects tone and volume from up to 3m away while the panel is in test mode. Hold the remote's power button to store the device settings. After a volume adjustment, save the new level at the panel. S-Cubed sounders and visual alarm devices synchronise across all loops of one panel; synchronisation does not extend across a network of panels.

Does the S3-S-R have a flashing beacon?
No. The S3-S-R provides tone alarms without a visual alarm device or spoken messages. Its sounder meets EN 54-3 and its integral short circuit isolator meets EN 54-17. The S3-S-VAD-HPR-R combines a tone sounder and High Power red beacon on a red body; the S3-S-VAD-HPR-W combines those functions on a white body. The S3-VAD-HPR-R is a beacon without a sounder. The S3-V-R is a red bodied voice sounder with four spoken messages and a bell tone.
What is the difference between the S3-S-R and the S3-V-R?
Both models are red bodied wall sounders in the S-Cubed range, with three alarm tones and integral short circuit isolators. The S3-V-R also stores four spoken messages and a bell tone. The S3-S-R provides tones without spoken messages. Across the S-Cubed sounder range, tone and volume can be adjusted with the commissioning tool or the S3-CONTROL infrared remote. Use the remote within 3m while the panel is in test mode, then save any adjusted volume at the panel.
What is the S3-BASE-SR shallow base, and when would I use one?
Supplied with a matching red standard base and one screw fitted in the base. The S3-BASE-SR is an optional red shallow base, supplied in packs of five. It provides a lower profile for the red bodied S3-S-R. Indoor S-Cubed devices project 90mm from the wall on the standard base or 75mm on the shallow base. Leave at least 10cm below the ceiling when installing a shallow base so that its locking screw remains accessible. The shallow base has one cable entry point, and a supplied self tapping screw secures the assembly.
Can the S3-S-R be mounted outdoors?
The S3-S-R is an indoor sounder for internal wall positions. The indoor S-Cubed range has an IP 21 rating and is unsuitable for external wall mounting. Its face is 112mm square, with a wall projection of 90mm on the standard base or 75mm on the optional shallow base. The red S3-BASE-SR shallow base matches this red bodied sounder.
