Description
Every M200 series module carries short circuit monitoring and isolators on the intelligent loop, and those isolators may be wired out of the loop to suit high current loaded loops, for example where sounders are used.
Where the control panel is compatible, short circuit fault monitoring of the input circuit may be possible, with an 18kΩ resistor wired in series with each device switch being monitored. Plug in type terminals take conductors up to 2.5 mm², and the working humidity range is 5% to 95% relative humidity, non-condensing.
M220EA is the dual channel input module of the M200 series, a family of microprocessor controlled interface devices permitting the monitoring and control of auxiliary devices. Its two channels monitor normally open contact fire alarm and supervisory devices, and the module may only be connected to control panels using compatible proprietary analogue addressable communication protocols. Performance is declared under DOP-IOD071 to EN 54-17: 2005 and EN 54-18: 2005.
The module runs on 15 to 32 VDC, with a minimum of 16.5VDC needed for LED operation, and its maximum standby current is 140 µA @24 V with no communication. Two tri-colour LEDs give one indicator per channel, drawing 1.5 mA on red and 5.5 mA on yellow. Panel command can set an LED to pulse green each time its channel is polled and to switch the red indicator on continuously in an alarm, while the yellow LED is controlled by the module itself and blinks to indicate an open circuit on the input circuit.

Two mounting routes are open to the installer. An M200E-SMB custom low profile surface-mounting box is fixed to the surface first, with the module and cover screwed onto that base, and the box measures 132 mm (H) x 137 mm (W) x 40 mm (D). Alternatively the DIN bracket on top allows mounting onto standard 35 mm x 7.5 mm Top Hat DIN rail inside a control panel or other suitable enclosure. Loop power must be disconnected before modules or sensors are installed, and the module is an electrostatic sensitive device, so handling precautions apply throughout. M220EA is made by Honeywell Products and Solutions Sàrl, trading as System Sensor Europe.

Addresses are set on rotary decade switches, turned with a screwdriver from the front or the top of the module, and the address chosen refers to the first input channel with the next address assigned automatically to the second channel. Address 159 is invalid for dual channel modules, and where a control panel can use only 99 addresses, 99 is invalid too, a restriction that falls away on Advanced Protocol.
Specifications
| Series description | The M200 series of modules are a family of microprocessor controlled interface devices permitting the monitoring and/or control of auxiliary devices. |
|---|---|
| Indicators | It has two tri-colour LED's, one referring to each channel. Each LED can be set by panel command to pulse green each time the module channel is polled. In case of an alarm the panel can switch the red indicator on continuously. The Yellow LED is controlled by the module and blinks to indicate an open circuit on the input circuit. |
| Operating Voltage Range | 15 to 32 VDC (Min 16.5VDC for LED operation) |
| Maximum standby current | 140 µA @24 V and 25 o C (no communication) |
| LED current red | 1.5 mA |
| LED current yellow | 5.5 mA |
| Relative humidity | 5% to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing) |
| Maximum wire gauge | 2.5 mm² |
| Terminal type | plug in type terminals capable of supporting conductors up to 2.5 mm² |
| Dimensions | Box dimensions: 132 mm (H) x 137 mm (W) x 40 mm (D) |
|---|---|
| Addressing | The module address is selected by means of rotary decade address switches. A screwdriver should be used to rotate the wheels to select the desired address, either from the front or the top of the module. |
| Address assignment | For modules having more than one channel, the address selected will refer to the first input channel, the module will automatically assign the next one or two addresses as appropriate to the second input channel and output channel. As a result, address 159 will be invalid for dual channel modules |
| Address limit note | Some control panels are only able to use 99 addresses. If this is the case, 99 will be invalid for dual channel modules |
| Second channel terminals | The dashed line circuit connected to terminals 8 and 9 should only be used with the M220EA. There are no connections to these terminals on the M210EA. |
| Short circuit input monitoring | Provided the control panel is compatible, short circuit monitoring of the input circuit may be possible. An 18kΩ resistor should be wired in series with each device switch being monitored. |
| Short circuit isolators | All M200 series modules are provided with short circuit monitoring and isolators on the intelligent loop. If required, the isolators may be wired out of the loop to facilitate the use of the modules on high current loaded loops, for example if sounders are used. |
| EN54 Part / Class | EN 54-17: 2005, EN 54-18: 2005 |
| Declaration of performance | M220EA: DOP-IOD071 |
