Description

This is the version of the VLF Multifunction Control Card carrying the Monitored 24 V Powered Output, so a VESDA VLF detector can drive and supervise an external sounder or beacon circuit as well as switch its own relay contacts. The MPO is disabled if there is a short on the GPI.

The VLF MCC is specifically designed for installation in VESDA VLF smoke detectors and supports VLF-250 and VLF-500. It is quick and simple to install and runs out of the box, with minimal configuration needed for the extra features. Detector ambient temperature runs from 0 to 40°C (32 to 104°F), with humidity between 5% and 95%, non-condensing. Note that VIC-030 is not approved by UL and is not approved by ULC, so it must not be treated as a UL or ULC approved component.

VIC-030 is the VESDA VLF MCC with MPO, a Multifunction Control Card that installs in VESDA VLF smoke detectors and adds a Monitored 24 V Powered Output alongside its relays and monitored input. The MPO provides power to devices such as sirens or strobes and monitors the line integrity, taking a 24 VDC input, drawing 100 mA more than the MPO output load and delivering up to 1 A (maximum).

Jumper configuration J9 J10 selects either a third relay or the 24 V MPO. Where MPO is chosen, the output follows ALERT unless disabled, and the self-configuring GPI becomes a disable input - an end of line reading leaves the MPO enabled, a short disables it, and an open circuit leaves it enabled while raising Fault # 111/IFF8. Where Relay3 is chosen instead, the GPI is set to External Fault, for example to monitor a mains power supply, and Relay 3 follows the VLF DISABLED or STANDBY status. Onboard LEDs indicate power to the MCC, power to the MPO, relay and MPO activated states, MPO power and line fault, internal communications, GPI state and GPI line fault.

Field wiring is accepted on terminals of 0.2 - 2.5 mm2 (30-12 AWG), with a 2.7K Ohm end of line resistor, in a card of 110 mm x 70 mm x 20 mm. Approvals are CE (EMC & CPR) and AFNOR; VIC-030 is not approved by UL and is not approved by ULC.
