Description

The Gent S4-34842 is an indoor addressable manual call point with a glass element and a lift-up cover. It raises a fire signal when the centre is pressed. Lift the cover to reach the glass, which is replaced after use. It takes power from the loop and has a built-in short circuit isolator. In the standard MCP range, a red LED and yellow tab show activation; a green LED gives status and find-device indication. The back box is ordered separately; S4-34895 is the red surface box. The standard MCP range accepts cables up to 2.5 mm2. The standard range supports Gent Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano analogue addressable fire alarm systems.

S4-34842 uses a glass element that is replaced after emergency operation. Its protective cover lifts to expose the element. Pressing the centre activates the call point, displays the yellow tab and starts the red LED flashing.

S4-34842 uses a glass element that is replaced after emergency operation. Its protective cover lifts to expose the element. Pressing the centre activates the call point, displays the yellow tab and starts the red LED flashing.

For glass replacement, open the front fascia with the test key, remove the broken glass carefully and fit the replacement beneath the yellow arm. S4-34891 is the replacement glass pack, containing ten pieces. The standard MCP range can also be tested in place with the supplied test key.

The back box is a separate item. Use S4-34895 for surface mounting, or fit a standard electrical box into the wall before installing the assembly for a semi-flush finish. The standard MCP range has an 88 x 88 mm body, 21 mm deep, with a surface-mounted depth of 57 mm. Across this range, estimated IP55 applies when both a protective cover and a back box are fitted.

The standard S4 MCP range runs from the addressable loop at 35-48 V and includes short circuit isolation. Its removable terminal block accepts conductors up to 2.5 mm2. Maintain loop cable earth continuity through the earth strap or back box earth point. The green LED supports status and find-device indication. Range operating limits are -25°C to +70°C, with up to 95% non-condensing relative humidity at +25°C to +55°C.

Gent analogue addressable systems include Vigilon Plus, Compact Plus and Nano. S4-34842 meets EN 54-11 and EN 54-17 and is LPCB approved.

FAQs

How is the S4-34842 operated and restored?

The S4-34842 has a glass element that is replaced after emergency operation. Lift its protective cover and press the centre of the glass to activate it. The yellow tab becomes visible and the red LED flashes. To renew the glass, open the front fascia using the test key, remove the broken pieces carefully and fit the new glass beneath the yellow arm. Replacement glass is S4-34891, supplied in packs of ten.

Which back box does the S4-34842 use?

The S4-34842 is supplied without a back box. For a surface installation, the red S4-34895 back box is available separately. For a semi-flush installation, fit a standard electrical box into the wall before mounting the call point assembly. The standard MCP range measures 88 x 88 mm, with a body depth of 21 mm and a surface-mounted depth of 57 mm. Its fitted protective cover forms part of the covered configuration.

How is the S4-34842 tested with the key?

The S4-34842 can be tested in place using the test key supplied with the standard MCP range. Lift the protective cover, then slide the keyhole cover upwards. Insert the key and rotate it clockwise by a quarter turn. This lowers the glass and yellow tab, activating the call point. Reverse the key movement to return the call point to its normal position. The standard MCP range uses a green LED for status and find-device indication.

How does the S4-34842 connect to the loop?

The S4-34842 takes its power from the addressable loop. The standard S4 MCP range operates at 35-48 V and includes short circuit isolation, with loop connections on a removable terminal block accepting conductors up to 2.5 mm2. During installation, carry the loop cable earth continuity through the earth strap or the back box earth point. The range uses a green LED for status and find-device indication, with a red LED and yellow tab showing activation.

How does the S4-34842 differ from the S4-34845?

The S4-34842 and S4-34845 both include a lift-up protective cover, but their operating elements differ. S4-34842 uses glass that is replaced after emergency operation; S4-34845 uses a plastic element restored with a test key. Both are indoor analogue addressable call points supplied without a back box. In the standard MCP range, estimated IP55 applies to the configuration with both a protective cover and a back box fitted. The red surface box is S4-34895.
