Overview
What it is and how it fits the system.
The LT-SEN-M3 is the Li-ion Tamer GEN 3 monitoring sensor, an off-gas detection node installed on battery racks downstream of convective airflows to detect electrolyte solvent vapour venting during early-stage lithium-ion battery failure. Calibration-free with a highly reliable output signal and self-diagnostic functionality, it detects a single cell failure and is compatible with all form factors and chemistries of lithium-ion battery. Its long product life is comparable to that of ESS battery systems. Supplied under Johnson Controls part number A163821J27.
Technical overview
LT-SEN-M3 is the Li-ion Tamer GEN 3 monitoring sensor, an off-gas detection node installed on battery racks downstream of convective airflows to catch electrolyte vapour venting in early-stage lithium-ion battery failure. Early detection of the venting phase allows mitigation measures to begin, and the sensor registers a single cell failure without any mechanical or electrical contact with the cells.
The sensor runs without any calibration yet gives a reliable output signal, monitors its own health through self-diagnostic checks, and continues in service over a long working life comparable to that of ESS battery systems.
Within an installation, monitoring sensors network through hubs and switches to the control module, which centralises system management and provides relay and Modbus TCP/IP outputs to a BMS or other control systems; the LT-ACC-HUB-POE-HON PoE hub and LT-ACC-HUB-PWR-HON direct-power hub are the listed aggregation options. LT-SEN-R3 reference sensors work alongside, monitoring ambient conditions and air inlets to prevent false positives, and the LT-ACC-TST DEC bump test bottle verifies sensor operation. Physical connection and wiring details are given in the installation manual.
