Description
The Gent COMPACT-NC is a copper network card for Vigilon Compact fire alarm panels, compatible with the Compact Plus panel and network node. It passes network data between connected units in a secure network loop of up to 31 panels and nodes, with cable runs of up to 1.2km between them subject to the selected network cable type. The card fits CARD2 on the Master Control Board. On a Compact Plus panel, a second loop card can plug into the network card, preserving the panel's two detection loops. Supplied with two plastic mounting supports, a short black connecting lead with blue terminals and a brass-coloured spade tag.
COMPACT-NC provides the copper network connection for a Vigilon Compact system. The same card fits the Compact Plus control panel and Compact Plus network node. Its terminals accept the external network wiring, allowing data to pass between the connected units. The Compact Plus network can contain up to 31 control panels and nodes in total, with up to 1.2km between units subject to the network cable used. The card must be fitted in CARD2 on the Master Control Board. On a Compact Plus control panel, fit the network card first; the optional second detection loop card then plugs into the socket on the network card. The first detection loop card remains in CARD1. The Compact Plus network node has its supplied network card in CARD2 and does not use CARD1.
Set the node address and baud rate using the onboard DIL switches before fitting the card. The address range is 1 to 31, with baud settings of 2400, 9600, 19.2K and 38.4K. The factory setting is node address 4 at 38.4K baud. The terminal blocks accept 2.5mm² cable, and the board measures 155mm high by 100mm wide by 25mm deep.
For older networkable Compact installations, the card requires a VCS-MCB-N main board with software V4.36 or later and a VCS-PSU-N power supply. Check the existing host hardware when planning a retrofit.
