The 2020R is a Rate of Rise Heat Detector from the Vision range of conventional detectors, combining a heat element with an ASIC and incorporating both rate-of-rise and static elements for quick, accurate fire detection. It operates from 14 to 28VDC (nominal 24VDC) with a 70µA maximum standby current and 70mA maximum alarm current at 28VDC. Its latching alarm resets by momentary power interruption and it works across -30°C to +70°C at 5 to 95% RH non-condensing.
Technical overview
2020R is a rate of rise thermal detector approved to EN54 – 5:2000 (Amendment 1) Class A1R, designed for use in conventional fire alarm systems. It incorporates both rate of rise and static sensing elements to detect rapid temperature increases or fixed temperature thresholds, with an integral LED that latches on during alarm and resets via momentary power interruption.
Operating within a voltage range of 14 to 28VDC (nominal 24VDC), the detector draws a typical quiescent current of 55µA and a maximum standby current of 70µA at 24VDC and 25°C, rising to 70mA at 28VDC during alarm. It functions in ambient temperatures from –30°C to +70°C, though to avoid unwanted alarms, the maximum ambient operating temperature should not exceed 45°C, and it tolerates 5 to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing).
The unit measures 40.5mm in height (102mm diameter) and weighs 70g, increasing to 50mm height and 115g when mounted on the standard 2020B base. Terminals accept wire gauges from 0.4mm² to 2.0mm², and the detector is constructed from ABS material, approximating RAL9016 in colour. It is compatible with a range of Vision detector bases, including standard, deep, and Schottky diode variants, supporting flexible installation across conventional fire alarm panels.
