Overview
What it is and how it fits the system.
The XCL-VEA-CH4-RM is a VESDA Sensepoint XCL aspirated combustible (CAT) gas detector that inserts in-line into a VESDA-E VEA micro bore tube network, measuring 0-100% LEL and factory-calibrated to methane (CH4). It provides Modbus RTU digital output with two relays, runs on 24V DC nominal and is rated IP65 (Type 4 / NEMA 250) in a 113 x 113 x 59 mm enclosure.
Technical overview
XCL-VEA-CH4-RM is the Modbus RTU variant of the Xtralis VESDA Sensepoint XCL methane detector for VESDA-E VEA microbore tube networks, an addressable aspirated unit that pairs digital communication with two relays. RS 485 Modbus output sits alongside VSC and VSM4 integration for remote access to detectors, and the detector interfaces into PLCs, HVAC, building management systems and fire alarm control panels.
Within the tube network the detector samples from the VEA's 6 mm micro bore line, with flexible tube sections cut to 50 mm and tube clips securing the VEA and flexible tubing parts. For routine attention, the XCL-VEA-CAL calibration and flow cap inserts into the detector module and turns clockwise until locked; XCL-VEA-TUB provides a tubing interface, XCL-FILTER replacement filters are ordered in packs of ten, and XCL-M20-CG cable glands and the XCL-COVER sensor cover with gasket round out the accessory list. Sensor replacement uses the XCL-SC-CH4 cartridge.
Bluetooth Low Energy links a compatible smart device running iOS 10 / Android 4.3 or above at up to 10 m, additional approvals stand at EN 50270 and RED, FCC, BT SIG, and terminal wiring detail lives in the installation manual.
