Overview
What it is and how it fits the system.
The XCL-VEA-CH4-RA-5 is a pack of five VESDA Sensepoint XCL aspirated combustible methane (CH4) gas detectors for use with the VESDA-E VEA micro bore system, each measuring 0-100% LEL with 4-20mA and relay output. The polycarbonate units operate from -20 to +50°C, carry an IP65 (Type 4 / NEMA 250) rating and measure 113 x 113 x 59 mm at 500 g each.
Technical overview
XCL-VEA-CH4-RA-5 is a pack of five Xtralis VESDA Sensepoint XCL methane detectors in the 4-20 mA relay build, giving a single ordering code for multi-point flammable-gas coverage on VESDA-E VEA Addressable Aspirating Smoke Detection networks. Each detector inserts in-line into the VEA microbore tubing, whether the pipe run is new or already in service.
Sensing is catalytic, calibrated at the factory against methane and reading combustible gases from 0 to 100% LEL, with alarm state shown on integral LEDs at each unit. A Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth 4.0) interface connects each detector to a compatible iOS 10 or Android 4.3 (or above) smart device up to 10 m away, and the analogue signal works alongside the relays for connections into fire alarm control panels, PLCs, HVAC and building management systems; VSC and VSM4 provide remote access where the Modbus route is used.
Every unit in the pack accepts the XCL-SC-CH4 replacement catalytic sensor cartridge. Approvals cover UL2075 (CO and CH4), AS 1668.2 and EN 50270, and guidance on the physical tube connections sits in the installation manual.
