Description
The Gent VSRPT-MRC is a Mark 4 Master Repeat Card retrofit kit for old loop-wired Repeat and A2 Mimic panels in Gent fire alarm systems. It replaces the old card in the existing back box and takes the mains supply directly, allowing the original transformer and mains filter to be removed. The card has a protective cover and reset, buzzer-disable and write-protect controls. A rotary switch selects the host panel, and the card is supplied write protected. It needs a short Loop Processor Card at the main panel, with software V4.19 or later for EN54 systems or V3.90 or later for BS5839 systems.
The VSRPT-MRC is a Mark 4 retrofit Master Repeat Card kit for old loop-wired Repeat and A2 Mimic panels. It replaces the original MRC inside the existing back box. For repeat-panel conversion, the original transformer, mains terminal block, mains filter and associated wiring are removed, and the mains supply connects directly to the replacement card. The earth lead connects the card to the back box.

The main control panel must have the newer short Loop Processor Card. EN54 systems require control-panel software V4.19 or later; BS5839 systems require V3.90 or later. Rotary switch SW3 selects the host: position 1 for a 3400 four-line repeat, 2 for a 32000 sixteen-line repeat, 3 for a Vigilon sixteen-line repeat and 4 for a Vigilon eight-line repeat. The A2 mimic retrofit uses position 0.
The card has reset, buzzer-disable and write-protect controls, and is supplied with write protection enabled. The supplied assembly is the Mark 4 Master Repeat Card with its protective cover. An A2 zonal mimic uses the card’s factory configuration without a configuration-file transfer.
Power down the loop and isolate the panel’s mains and battery supplies before the retrofit. The protective cover must be in place before power is restored. For a repeat panel, connect the 20-way and 40-way display ribbons to P1 and P2 respectively, then to the display keyboard card. After power-up, reallocate the loop at the main control panel so the repeat panel displays the main panel’s indications.

FAQs
Which panels does the VSRPT-MRC retrofit kit serve?
The kit is for old loop-wired Repeat and A2 Mimic panels in Gent analogue addressable fire alarm systems. At the main control panel it requires the newer short Loop Processor Card. The minimum control-panel software is V4.19 for an EN54 system and V3.90 for a BS5839 system. The card replaces the old MRC in the existing back box, and its rotary switch is set for the host panel and display arrangement as part of the retrofit.
How does SW3 select the repeat panel?
SW3 sets the card for the host panel. Position 1 selects a 3400 repeat with a four-line display, position 2 a 32000 repeat with a sixteen-line display, position 3 a Vigilon repeat with a sixteen-line display, and position 4 a Vigilon repeat with an eight-line display. The A2 mimic retrofit uses position 0. The switch sits below the 40-way ribbon header P2. Positions 5 to F are unused, and the host setting is made before power-up.
What comes with VSRPT-MRC, and where is it installed?
The supplied assembly is the Mark 4 Master Repeat Card with its protective cover. It fits into the existing back box of an old loop-wired Repeat or A2 Mimic panel. For a repeat-panel conversion, the original card, transformer, mains terminal block, mains filter and associated wiring are removed. The incoming mains supply then connects directly to the replacement card. Its protective cover must be fitted before power is restored to the panel.
What changes to the repeat panel’s power wiring?
The conversion removes the original transformer, mains terminal block, mains filter and associated wiring. The incoming mains cable connects directly to the replacement card, and the new earth lead connects the card to the back box earth point. The loop is powered down and the mains and battery supplies are isolated before the work. The protective cover must be in place when power is restored. After the repeat panel starts, the loop is reallocated from the main control panel.
Does an A2 zonal mimic need its configuration transferred?
An A2 zonal mimic uses the factory configuration already held in the retrofit card, so it does not need a configuration-file transfer for that zonal arrangement. The A2 mimic retrofit uses rotary switch SW3 at position 0. The card fits inside the existing back box, with an earth lead connecting it to the enclosure and connections for the mains and battery supplies. The protective cover must be fitted before the panel is powered up after the retrofit.
