Description

The Gent VSINTM-PCB-UPG is a replacement mains interface board on a carrier for an existing Gent 34440 mains powered interface. It has four channels, set at the factory as sector outputs, which can be set as zone inputs or sector outputs to suit the site’s required functions. The old board, transformer, mains filter and terminal blocks are removed as part of the conversion. The new board fits into the existing enclosure, with its fixing screws forming part of the earth path. Its sector and auxiliary outputs share a total load limit of 0.5A, with up to 0.25A available from the auxiliary output.

The VSINTM-PCB-UPG replaces the board in a legacy Gent 34440 mains powered interface. The replacement assembly is mounted on a carrier that fits into the existing enclosure. The incoming mains cable enters above the replacement board’s mains terminal block to keep mains and extra low voltage wiring apart. Unused cable entries need plastic bungs.

All four channels are supplied set as sector outputs. Use S4-INTERFACE-PROG version 1.03 or later to set the zone inputs and sector outputs needed for the installation. Configure the circuits before connecting external equipment. Channel blocks PB2 to PB5 provide separate sector and zone terminals; PB1 carries the loop connections and PB6 the auxiliary output.

The combined load on the sector outputs and auxiliary output must stay within 0.5A. The auxiliary output has its own 0.25A maximum within that total. Sector circuits use a 10k ohm end-of-line resistor, while non-IS zone circuits use a 22uF end-of-line capacitor. The maximum cable length is 150m for either circuit. An inductive sector load needs a flyback diode.

Stop the loop at the control panel, isolate the mains supply and disconnect the batteries before removing the old board. Secure the replacement carrier with the supplied screws to maintain the earth path to the metal enclosure. After reconnection and power-up, allocate the loop from the control panel and test the interface against the site’s required functions.

Configuration takes place before external circuits are connected. Each channel has separate sector and zone terminals on blocks PB2 to PB5. Sector circuits use a 10k ohm end-of-line resistor, while non-IS zone circuits use a 22uF capacitor. Both circuit types have a maximum cable length of 150m.

How much current is available for external equipment?

The sector outputs and auxiliary output share a maximum combined load of 0.5A. The auxiliary output is limited to 0.25A, and its load counts towards that combined total. For example, using the full 0.25A auxiliary allowance leaves up to 0.25A for the sector outputs together. The auxiliary connections are on PB6, with the sector connections on PB2 to PB5. An inductive load connected to a sector output needs a flyback diode across the load.

What installation work does the conversion involve?

The loop is stopped at the main control panel, and the interface’s mains and battery supplies are isolated before the original board is removed. The old transformer, mains filter and associated terminal blocks also come out. The replacement carrier is secured using the supplied screws, which maintain the earth path to the metal enclosure. The mains cable enters above the new mains terminal block, and unused cable entries are closed with plastic bungs to complete the enclosure work.

What happens after the replacement board is fitted?

The external wiring is reconnected to the replacement board after its inputs and outputs have been configured. The correct end-of-line components need to be in place for the zone and sector circuits. Once the mains and battery connections are restored, the loop is allocated again from the control panel’s Test/Eng menu. The interface is then tested against the functions required at the site. The enclosure door is closed and secured with its key after the work is complete.
