Series 5 brought a change in how the unit is serviced: mains connections within the unit are covered such that low-voltage authorised technicians are permitted to open the cover and inspect the batteries. Where an existing Series 3 VPS-220-STX-SLV comes out, this is the part that goes back in, since the Series 5 range replaces the earlier Style E and U power supplies.

VPS-220-STX5-SLV is a 0.5A 7-14AH PSU in the STX5 Silver finish, an Xtralis power supply unit identified as Series 5. It is the Series 5 answer to the Series 3 PSU VPS-220-STX-SLV, and the Series 5 units replace the current Style-E and U power supplies. Inside the unit an internal LED allows the cause of any fault to be identified from a flash indication.
