The VPS-220-E5 is an Xtralis Style E5 power supply unit designed for the VESDA Power Supplies range, serving as the original unit in this series. It provides a 0.5A certified load capacity (or 1.0A non-certified) with a 20.0-30Vdc output from a 230Vac nominal supply, meeting EN 54-4 requirements. The unit shares its footprint with VESDA-E VEP, VES, and VEU detectors to power Xtralis aspirating smoke detection systems.

Status indication is via external green and yellow LEDs, showing output OK and fault conditions respectively, while fault signalling uses a change-over NO-COM-NC relay rated at 1A @ 30Vdc. The battery circuit incorporates a 3A MINI automotive fuse and the AC supply uses a T1A HRC 20mm fuse. Batteries are not supplied, with the unit tested using the Yuasa Yucel Y series cells, supporting up to 14Ah maximum capacity. Physical dimensions are 225mm x 351mm x 110mm, weighing 3kg without batteries and 14kg with maximum batteries installed. It supersedes the earlier VPS-220-E and VPS-220-U models.
