Description
The VESDAnet Interface Card provides VESDAnet communication from a VLF smoke detector to other VESDAnet devices. Diagnostic LEDs on the card give a visual indication of its status, minimal configuration is needed before operation, and the card is fully transferrable between VLF detectors.
Where devices are to be configured over VESDAnet, an HLI has to be connected to a VESDAnet socket; that socket is available on VLI, VEP, VEU and VES detectors, and a remote VESDAnet socket module, VRT-300, offers direct connectivity to an HLI or a hand-held programmer as an alternative. Individual VLF detectors can still be interrogated and configured by Xtralis VSC through their onboard serial interface, but it is not possible to reach other detectors on VESDAnet through that serial port.

VIC-010 is the VESDAnet Interface Card (VN Card), a plug-in card for the range of VESDA VLF smoke detectors that brings the detector onto VESDAnet. VESDAnet is a fault-tolerant proprietary VESDA communications protocol on which detectors, displays, programmers and remote units all talk to one another over a single network, and with an appropriate High Level Interface the information on it can be passed to third-party monitoring and control systems such as Building Management Systems and Fire Alarm Control Panels.
Fitting the card into a VLF detector allows remote displays and remote relays to be added to that VLF, and it is also what a networked detector needs when it is used as the reference smoke level source. A hand-held programmer or HLI module cannot be directly connected to a VLF detector.
It consumes less than 1 W from the detector at 24 VDC & 42 mA and measures 4.94” x 2.92” x 1.09” (125.6 mm x 74.1 mm x 27.7 mm) at 0.225 lb (0.102 Kg). Field wiring lands on terminals rated 30-12 AWG (0.2 - 2.5 mm2). Detector ambient is 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C) with humidity of 5% to 95% (non-condensing). Approvals are EN 54-20, CE - EMC and CPR, and AFNOR.
